do i need a new racquet or just a higher string tension?

i recently purchased the prince orange o3 OS but ive been having some problems with it. my shots go out a lot and im barely doing a full stroke. the string tension is at 60, do i need to make it higher next time i get it strung?? or is the problem the racquet?

here are the specs of my racquet:

unstrung weight: 9.5 oz
swing weight: 285
head size: 110 inches
unstrung balance: 13.2 in
16x19 string pattern

oh and another thing, can lead tape solve this problem?

wat was ur old racuqet? this may be too powerful you even with string adjustments? might i ask wat lvl u are? this racquet should be recommended for ntrp lvl 4.0 and below, u can probably control the shots by hitting with more topspin

and no lead tape wont solve the problem

im about a 3.5-4.0 player. ya i try putting tons of top spin but it still goes out sometimes. my old racquet was a head liquidmetal 8

String it to 65lbs with synthetic gut - stringing tight with OS frames is a must if you swing fast IMO.

But, if you have some muscle there isn't a single reason for you to play with such a racket in the first place.

You've gotten a racket Prince clearly designed for a "beginner".

Regardless, it is not going to prevent you from hitting the ball well and into the court. If you start pointing blame at the racket now, you may keep looking to your racket in the future when things don't go so well. Find out why you're hitting the ball long, worry about the racket later.

There are hundreds of posts around here by people claiming their rackets are too powerful for them... It is amazing how often they come up.

i have tried many racquets that were much better than mine and nothing that i could complain with but this one had the only problem i had to share here.

Unfortunately I have to second Bottle Rocket on this point. I suspect as well that some of the posters complaining on racquets being too powerful are probably hitting them more flat than they think, and flying above the net by a good height.

It's probably just a minor set back in your tennis path to glory. Just keep the stick and keep practicing. I really believe that this is just a phase....it will pass. You will soon enough be finding balls to land in court once again--with the O3 orange.

Adding lead tape (or coins) to the end of the butt will likely reduce your power level and add topspin.

speaking from hardware point of view the power level will not be reduced, neither will spin - what it would effect is the way you stroke, making it more likely that you'll start to put in more racket rotation into your swing - THAT will result in "reduce your power level and add topspin."

I had the opposite problem, with my very headlight racket I was having trouble driving the ball and my shots weren't as penetrating as I would have liked to hit them.

I have the same problem as well with my RDS recently as well. I am thinking about putting some lead tape besides the butt cap of my racquet. I was wondering if that'll reduce power as well?

Many people hit the ball out because they hit the ball with a face that is too open. Make sure you close your face. A friend of mine hits with a 9.9 once racquet with the same racquet speed as me and gets it in.
