Happy 2010 everyone.
This is my first thread and post of the new year:)

Does anyone have Nadal's 2010 schedule this year? I want to know which clay court tournament he'll be playing. If he's gonna do the traditional Monte Carlo, Barcelona, Rome and Madrid thingy, i forsee 2009 repeating itself. hopefully not of course. It's a sin for the tennis world not to have more Wimbledon 2008.

cheers.

PS: i tried looking on his official website www rafael nadal dot com but it isnt there.

I bet he does. No way he skips Monte Carlo and Barcelona where he is the 5 time defending champ. Because of his age, he isnt eligable to skip Rome or Madrid without an injury

He will probably play Dubai after the AO and maybe Rotterdam.

Why is Rafa playing Rotterdam? He should just get rid of non-MS/slam events.

That's THE big question that any fan who realizes that the surface over there is a genuine knee-killer is or should be asking. I can't think of one other reason than the usual one: $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.
I hope he will skip it.
Same thing for Dubai.

But for a guy like Nadal, why should it matter? He's loaded!

All I can remember are quotes from Nadal saying that he may shorten his clay schedule so that he isn't wrecked for the middle season.

He should axe Rotterdam, Madrid and Cincy.

In contrary to popular belief, those ATP500 are NOT mandatory. He could skip those easily.

Are they not forced to play a certain amount of them? 4 ATP 500 a year or something like that? I also thought they had to put them at different parts of the season. For example: at least one after the USO. I'm not sure though.

They are 'forced' to, but all that happens if they don't show up, is that they lose their ranking points they gathered the year before in that same or in a comparable tournament (they get a so-called 'zero-pointer'). With proper sheduling, that is sometimes something they should choose to do, in order to remain healthy for the rest of the season. And many players indeed do so.
