Double 12's

Just noticed this week that Melzer is ranked #12 in both singles and doubles this week! Pretty amazing that at 29, he has been able to have such a great year (including a doubles slam at SW19). It did take a drop from #6 to #12 in the doubles rankings for this coincidence to happen though. He's probably the highest ranked player on aggregate for singles and doubles combined!

I can't believe melzer is ranked 12 in the world in singles...the only good result was the FO semi! Unbelievable!

Yes, isn't that enough?

At the Australian Open, the four semifinalists were Federer, Murray, Tsonga (currently #13) and Cilic (currently #15). At the French, it was Nadal, Melzer, Soderling (currently #5) and Berdych (currently #7). At Wimbledon, it was Murray, Nadal, Berdych, Djokovic. At the US Open it was Nadal, Federer, Djokovic, and Youzhny (Currently #8).

Of the players there that have made only one grand slam semi this year (Tsonga, Cilic, Melzer, Soderling, Youzhny), Melzer is exactly in the middle, rankings-wise.

Melzer reached the round of 16 in two other Grand Slams - which is about how you'd expect the #12 to perform, actually.
