Dropball- Tennis game.

have you ever played a game called dropball?

i was first introduced to the game 2 years ago from my school coach. its really fun and helps you work on touch shots and angles. it improves net play significantly and helps to return lobs over your head.

now this is how the game works.

you can play to 11 or 15 or whatever you like. both players start up at the net. one player takes the ball and balances it on top of the net in the middle. then they let the ball just roll off onto the receiver's side of the court and the point starts. after it takes it's first bounce, you may hit it any way you like to get it over the net. for first timers, dont get frustrated if your hitting into the net since the ball just rolls off the net. work on lobbing with topspin right off the start, or you can use those nasty angles that just make it over the net.

get it? dropball! now start playing.

you dont have to hit crosscourt. its mostly lobbing/net action play. hardly ever any rallys unless both players decide to back off the net from the start.
maybe your playing a different game.

Well I played where you are only allowed to hit it into the service box. If you lob it your dead....

Yea i've played this game, I could only play half court though meaning only up to the service boxes meaning that its all about placement, and volleys.

Lol its so rediculously easy to win that game...just make sure the ball always rolls to the other side first, then just get way on top of the net and as soon as he hits his shot (he HAS to hit it up, its physics) SMACK it for winner anywhere, or at the guy. Either way, you win the point.

A better game is "death", (other names apply) where you start at the service lines, one player feeds a volley feed, and the point is played out in half a singles court. Play to 21, but never, EVER lob, you will die. Literally.

how do you die? its simple to get a passing lob over the net. im not talking about just straight up where they person can smash it but he has to run back and around it. maybe i'll post a vid sometime to show how we play whole court.

unless the other guy is a very adequate runner, the feeder always loses. just use a little touch with a little top spin extreme cross court. it'll land 3/4 foot from the net and in and the other guy has to run like hell, which by then you can easily put it away for a winner.

Seriously its sooo hard to hit a lob over a dude at the net if the guy is taller than 3 feet...most people I play with can easily smash anything unless its straight up about 30 feet. All you have to do is move back to get a lob, its physically impossible to hit a lob with that angle to get it over somone who moves back, especially if the shot you're trying to lob off of was shallow.

im done trying to explain this game because a lot of you just try to find flaws in everything effective which dont happen because you havent tried to play it. all of you are just turning the simplest game ever into such a complex monster. maybe if someone knows what im talking about then you'll understand.
