Sorry, I checked with my sponsor and they said it’s a no go. I’ll send you a copy too, no worries.

Don't bother sending me a copy of your video. Just send it to @onehandbh. I've said this many times... most folks here don't bother commenting on other posters' videos (or claim to play at a certain level, etc), so there's really no reason they should feel the need to post a video (unless they want to, of course). But... once you comment on others' videos, particularly if those comments are of the negative or doubting variety, then you owe a basic duty to the forum to post your own video. Otherwise, you're just sniping anonymously, hiding behind your keyboard - that is, trolling. I'm not aware of any poster who has ever posted a video here and suffered any "real" negative repercussions from doing so (I'm not including finding out posters think they suck) - we're talking a LOT of videos. So, just shoot it on over to onehandbh. There's really nothing to worry about.

I played a few sets with the open level champ in my town couple weeks ago. I have to say i can't tell there is much difference between him and these guys.

Ahahaahhhhahahahh! Yeah, I understand, your “sponsor” certainly wouldn’t want to get more recognition by having you seen in a video all over a tennis website. Imagine the horror!

56 actually, but he doesn’t want to brag or post a video....because his sponsor says he can’t. Lol!

I called Percy’s All Natural Prune Juice yesterday and asked again whether it was ok to post my video and they said no. What more should I do?

You young whippersnappers think you’re all as good as Fred Perry. But your western grips don’t intimidate me at all.

I’ve seen your video and was rather underwhelmed. You’d benefit from a Continental grip on your forehand.

And the video I commented on wasn’t even from a poster.

It’s unreal how the guys who don’t have the courage to poast vid or hit with anyone from TT always are the ones who run their mouths the most.

I think he's actually kidding in several of his comments... the 1981 Maine Invitational? I'm pretty sure that's a joke. Do they even have tennis courts in Maine?

Oh yeah im sure he is. A few of the usual suspects usually fire up a troll account and pound the boards for a while before reinventing themselves a few months or years later and the cycle continues.

Not sure, you have any vid or a way i can see you? My vid from here is real old and not really worth tracking down and reposting. Ill film again and maybe compare the old and new strokes and make it a video or something.

Ive played with a ton of tt members. At least 30 at last count, so maybe we have and just did not know.

Hmm. Yeah. Frank used to set me up with matches. Did you happen to use wilson 95s ? I met a guy who looked like courier and hit a real clean flatter ball that told me he used the same frames forever.

There was another tall blonde dude with a big serve and id play matches with my friend next to him. He was like a regular there and he played mikeler and the shorter guy (tt poster) who was the best senior levels aher. Used a volkl.

This all sounds insanely random to anyone who never played at otc. Lol.

Nice I met you one time then. That’s awesome. I was not a regular at OTC though, but I used it as my home court for USTA flex since I used to live nearby.

Doubles part 1

What do you guys think of this level?

Pretty darn good. If I can have matches like that [both my team and the opposition], it's a great day for tennis.

I'm constantly communicating with my partner like these guys are, trying out ideas, proposing solutions, taking feedback. This is one reason why doubles is so stimulating.

I finally watched Ian versus Kevin. If anyone here can defend as well as Ian did in that vid, I'd love to see it.

"waaah, he doesn't hit the ball perfect like Feddie and my shadow swings in my basement!!".

Yeah, I get it, his strokes look a little awkward, but that dude defends so well, its crazy. He would have a lot of these internet warriors gassed and defeated in 45 minutes.

It's seriously quite difficult to defend and keep the ball that deep. But yeah, it doesn't look pretty, so what. Kevin looked pretty and dropped his first set 6-1. If a guy is defending that wellm it can be real tough to overcome unless you stay calm and focused and realize you are going to have to hit a lot of extra balls back.

It would be a great matchup of Ian vs @timtennis or @tofast4u05 [I think he got bumped to 5.0].

Doubles part 1

What do you guys think of this level?

The guy receiving serve in the ad court close to the camera (Scott?) needs some doubles lessons. His returns are too high and the left-handed guy picks them off easily. He should slice his returns low, wide, and short. These guys are 4.0-4.5.

Easy to suggest; a lot harder to execute.

You're also not giving any consideration to the serve and how much spin it had on it [which the receivers mentioned in their commentary].

I've played guys at that level and very little is as easy as you suggest [the concept is correct but executing it is another matter].

So have I, and I have learned the hard way how to return serve in doubles. Keep the return low and short and wide (with slice), or lob, or hit down the line if you find him moving over too much. In one match, I was playing the ad court and the server kept hitting super-high bouncing spinners to me. I missed several times. I kept moving in closer and closer, and started getting them back. So, he kept trying harder and harder, trying to hit even more spin, and started faulting, and got frustrated and angry. We won simply because he lost his cool and could not stand the fact that I figured out how to counter his tactic, especially since I am short and play with wood racquets. It drives some opponents batty when I play better than they expect.

I'm sure the Ad court returner knows what he's supposed to do. You're implying that he's ignorant and I find that very unlikely. It's a matter of execution.

Seems like the last part is out. Nate seemed pretty nervous and tight throughout the whole doubles match. Double-faulted at least once each service game. Nate's also been out of the game the longest. Both Scott and Nate played D1 while Ian played D2 and Kevin also played D1.

Speaking of ros ... Ian hit 100% 1hbh slice (and many FH slice) ros and won the set. The level of doubles where slice ros can't be successful is higher than this level (if at all). If you are playing rec doubles ... a good 1hbh slice ros can be very high level. The best #1 4.5 doubles player on our USTA 4.5 teams played ad court and hit 1hbh slice ros exclusively ... and often followed it into the net.

They're both 5.0 league players. Their tennis backgrounds support a 5.0 rating. Armchair TT video analysis? Meaningless.

Fair point ... but Ian's parents gave Ferris State $1 mil to let him walk on. There was a video of Ian saying he didn't care about college ... but was interested in the partying and wanted to be a tennis influencer. 8-B

Disclaimer:
{this joke will make no sense unless you are following the US college admissions scandals ... and might not make any sense even if you are}

These videos were a convergence of worlds for me... I used to work with Ian, and played Junior Tennis with Nate (and his brother also named Ian)...

Based on what? I don't see any evidence of that at all!

I already answered your question in my previous post: commentary and ex-Div I status. Results represent his ability to execute. His commentary and college experience represent his knowledge.

I'm not saying his ability to execute is irrelevant. I am saying he's likely aware of what he should be doing.

They are definitely playing at a high level, however I'm not a double specialist so I don't really know if they made a mistakes or many mistakes or something.

Listen to the commentary: they are telling you what mistakes are being made, both by their opponents and themselves. They are also discussing about how to adapt to the other team's game. Meanwhile, the opponents are doing the same thing. That's what makes doubles so interesting, the constant Cat & Mouse adjustment and counter-adjustment.

Yes, but I'm talking about as myself, if I spotted any mistakes that I think is a mistakes which they didn't or wasn't focusing on, etc.
