Federer and Nadal sharing the wealth

Prize money at all ATP 250 and ATP 500 tournaments ahead of Wimbledon will rise to 80 per cent and 60 per cent, respectively.

It means an extra $5.2 million (£3.73 million/€4.32 million) will be on offer for players.

The money would usually go to the top 12 players at the end of the season, but this will now be redistributed courtesy of support from the ATP Player Council, including Swiss legend Roger Federer and Spanish great Rafael Nadal.

"Our tournaments’ revenues continue to be severely impacted by restrictions on ticket sales, and a substantial improvement on this front looks unlikely before mid-year," said ATP chairman Andrea Gaudenzi.

"Our focus is to ensure the tour continues supporting as many players as possible and I would like to thank the top-ranked players and the Player Council for supporting this measure, which will help improve conditions for the larger player group over the coming months."

Another win for Fedal. They just own tennis. Slay.

Federer has enough money to survive 50 years, he should play for free from now, and distribute the wealth down. Greedy.

Good on them. Just to note also, that the press release by ATP chairman Andrea Gaudenzi specifically thanked top ranked players and the players' council. Doubtless the world no. 1 was also consulted in this decision. Kudos, therefore to DjokodalFed. (Or Fedalovic, if you prefer to phrase that way). :)

Didn't you write in another thread about how the ranking system had been fixed so Federer would remain in the top 10 indefinitely?

Your hatred of Federer (and stupidity) know no bounds.
Because him dropping out of top 12 is inevitable despite that, obviously.

"including" lmao they don't decide this only by themselves, what is this thread proving? That Fedal are good guys and Djokovic an evil ******* ? Lol
The thread title is pure propaganda by the way

All Federer has to do is have a decent showing or two. This field is weak af LOL. If 40 year old Federer can still move somewhat decent and serve like we all know he can, then the natural talent and shotmaking/feel is enough to do some damage

What's PTPA's response to this?

Assuming all is going well with the PTPA ofc after Djokovic tried to stab them in the back Red Wedding style by trying to rejoin the ATP Council

Just when Federer is about to drop out of the top 12, we see him supporting distributing the money to players ranked outside of top 12? Greeds know no bounds.

Fed is skipping Miami Masters to collect his huge appearance fees from some Mickey Mouse Oil Tournament.

Can we do away with the huge appearance fees Fed is collecting? How does that sit with the struggling low ranked players?

Why is comrade Bart not speaking out on this inequity?
