Federer concentrating on slams now ?

I don't know but do you think Federer is intensionally pacing himself
for the longer term ?

I don't know why Federer reached Sampras in February.
He isn't exactly "anybody" who would practice with Federer.

Federer, who is on his 4th year of domination, suddenly wants to
practice with a guy who dominated the tour for 6 year....
I suspect he wasn't at Sampras' home just to practice with him..

I mean Sampras started to do this "art of peaking at the right time"
for the later half of his career. Struggles at smaller tournies and
in early rounds of slams. But once he was in 2nd week of slams,
he was totally sharp. He mastered it.

Federer is doing that now ? He has been totally different type of
dominator for last 3 years winning just about anything in his way....

I don´t think so. His game is more erratic than it used to be and his lack of fight and self-confidence is disappointing. You try to win everytime, he used to win almost everytime but this year he didn´t win any of the first 4 Masters Series, losing in earlier rounds in 3 of them.
Since he is world no. 1 he had a killer instinct and he always tried his best on every tournament. He is 25, it´s not that he is 30 and he needs to focuse on 4 tournaments. Also, the best way to be ready for a Grand Slam is to win as much as possible so the level of your game is high when the Grand Slam starts.
