Federer on forehands

Well it was not as if he was ripping his forehands consistently through out the match. For the first two sets Fed made him suffer and his fore hand was a mess. He went for low % shots and the sample path dealt to him yesterday was a very benign one.

Where was this forehand in this year's AO?

If Fed had served like this and played like this, Gonzo would have a AO by now and perhaps Soderling a FO.

He hits it hard. Hardly the best. What is the variety on it? Nothing much YET. May be in 3-4 years he might bring some variety. At the moment, it is definetely not the best. It is a beast for sure.

To everyone saying Delpos forehand must be better than Gonzo/Blake's because he won a slam with it while they haven't: Has it ever occurred to you that there is more to tennis than forehands?

Surely Delpo's serve, return of serve, backhand, footwork, anticipation, shot selection, strategy, height, strength, fitness, might have had at least SOMETHING to do with his win today?
..Just maybe?
Or I could be completely wrong here.
