Flexpoint Prestige MP Advice

Hi, I used to use liquidmetal prestige mid plus (big banger original 55/54). Basically, head renewed my team elite contract and they only let me use the flexpoint range of rackets. I chose the flexpoint mid plus as i thought it would be really similar to the liquidmetal. When I got the rackets, I noticed that the string beds were very closed and even with the big bangers at 57/56 I got too much power and pop with them. Do I need to get a thinner gauge string i.e. alu power? Get my strings strung even tighter? My game style is big serve, like to attack from the baseline, come to the net a lot. Also, before with the liquidmetal I could take a big cut at the ball and hit hard and deep returns off serves and now I find my returns are going long and have to end up blocking returns of serve....

Would be great to get some advice!:D
Thanks,

Dude, what a bummer! You're playing perfectly fine with the LM Prestige, but Head is forcing you to switch to the Flexpoint? :-( I know it's a marketing issue for them, but that's just wrong. You should demand that they paintjob your LM Prestige. haha. That's just ridiculous from Head's part because those two racquets clearly have different specifications, and even that small difference could throw your game off.

I also own a LM Prestige Midplus, and it's a great frame. I have also used Big Banger Original 16g strings before. Those strings already are low-powered, yet you're sending balls long with the Flexpoint. From what I read on your post, this hasn't happened when you used the LM Prestige, so I don't think you could blame the strings. Even if you string it with Alu Power at the same tension, there's a big chance that you will still send balls long. All my life, I've used low tension, and when I tried high tension, I hated it. So, I dont' recommend stringing it higher. You mentioned thinner guages. Thinner guages provide even more power than thicker gauges; however, they give you more spin in return. So, it's basically a trade-off.

Hmm...what you could try is to keep the same string and tension; however, to try to get the Flexpoint racquet to swing as close as possible to the LM. A.k.a. Racquet-matching. Experiment with lead tape. Good luck!

I guess you need to decide what you want, the sponsorship or the right racket. Personally I'd ditch the sponsorship; after all what are they offering you? Heck, I'll give you free rackets if I can make you play with whatever junk I can buy on **** for less than $5 a frame!!

Powerful players don't use Flexpoints as far as I can tell! Why try compromising other parts of your set-up, when the pros never would?

Sounds like that frame is really messing with your game.

I suppose you could try putting filler in the holes ;-)

your performance is way more important than some free sticks....i learned this the hard way too. Play with what u want + whatever you play best with.
