But that's what I'm saying. You're not asking anything different -- you're perceiving something different that isn't there. Fognini's groundies aren't special. Well, they are relative to rec hacks, but so are all pros. They're just "fairly compact." There's no answer to what makes them different than other pros' strokes: they aren't. And what allows them to work is the same stuff that allows all good strokes to work.
I have seen no other pro stand as upright as often and rip blistering shots off such compact strokes. His body being so upright on most of his shots is clearly different --no one teaches that.

I'm convinced Fognini has freaky fast twitch muscles like the pitchers who can throw 100 MPH or the Bballers who can jump 44".

:D Nice.

Anyways good discussion so far in this thread. I’m in the process of writing about another topic, this one will be fairly controversial so I wanna make sure I type it out as well as I can. I’m glad people are enjoying and finding these posts useful.
Can't wait!!!!

Please keep doing these. TT may be a tough crowd, but we know quality when we see it. :)

This is my RoS. When I get a hard flat serve and have no time to prepare, I move just enough to get my racquet on the ball and have a decent return redirecting the energy. When I step back 3' and have a fraction of second more to think about it, prepare and swing, I screw it up and miss-hit.

Would be interesting to know the error stats from 3 feet further back. 3 feet is actually pretty big distance.. for instance, using your baseline.. 3 feet back of it and it's a different shot than say right at the baseline.
