Gamma Progression II 602 or Alpha Revo 4000

I just received a $100 gift card to g o l f s m i t h dot com and was looking to buy a new stringing machine. I orginally got a klippermate one but since I got the gift card I was thinking of upgrading. Which machine would you select.

I heard people were ok with the gamma one and others regretted getting one and should of got the alpha 4k. I preferally wouldnt want to spend too much for the revo 4k. but the price is revo $549 vs $469 for the gamma.

i'm starting to string for other people and my cousin is on the tennis team so i'm hoping i can get more business. any suggestions?

Also since the revo 4k isnt a drop weight how is the tension calibration? is it easy and should i check every 30 rackets string?

I have the Revo 4K and love it; no experience with the Gamma. I forsee many many happy years of stringing with my Revo, plus the option of upgrading to the Wise tension head later on down the line. I don't think this is possible on the Gamma drop weight.

Calibrating the crank on the Revo 4K takes all of 1 minute for me. YuLitle will tell you you should do it every time you move the machine or approximately every 30 - 35 racquets strung.

The Revo is a very very solid machine. Even for a noob stringer like me, I can crank out a frame in about 30 minutes if I'm not rushing.

wow thanks for the advice. i guess for the long term which should i get. i read so many high remarks for the revo 4k. i actually wanted the pioneer dc but since they dont sell it im stuck between these two. hopefully i can make my decision later today and order it.

I think that for the long term, the Revo would also be the way to go, since you're not sure how frequently you'll be stringing & as bronco pointed out, you will aslo have the option of upgrading with the Wise.

i have the gamma, but recommend the revo. The crank will be much nicer than the droppie.

I went through a similar decision months ago, and decided along the way that the $299 price point was too high for floating clamps and ratchet gripper.

I'd get the Revo if you're doing to do more than personal stringing, and the Alpha Pioneer DC Plus if you're going to go for a drop weight.

For me, in the long-term the fixed clamps and linear gripper on the Alpha made it a much better option than the other dropweights lacking those features. The DC Plus is essentiall the same HW as the Revo, w/dropweight instead, so it's quite high in quality and very sturdy.

ok so I decided to buy the Revo 4k. I emailed there customer service and Greg responded back saying the revo 4k will be out of stock til June. Is this normal?

To be more specific on the problem, the Revos are being shipped by sea, so that takes about a month.
