Gaucho Gut

I was thinking of ordering some gaucho gut however there seems to be no way to order it over their website. Does anyone know how you can do it?

Also are there any other cheap guts out there that are half decent. I seem some people use performaxx but this is barely cheaper than tonic ones you include postage to the uk

You'll have to send them an email, and they'll set up a paypal transaction for you.

Great stuff! Just don't string them too fast and pull them like there's no tomorrow. Try not to kink them either.

Be wary...you get what you pay for.

I ordered 2 sets a year or so ago...one popped during stringing and the other popped before I ever took the racquet out of the bag.

It's fine as long as you don't string above 55. The thickness also made stringing crosses difficult but the string is not bad

i sent an email to them last summer and got this reply

'Hello,

We have currently halted production in order to open a new manufacturing facility. We have noted down your email address and will send out an email once our products are available again.

Gaucho Strings'

i also sent an email more recently and didnt get a reply, maybe i will try again

STILL?!

I got that reply nearly 2 months ago.

Classic can go as high as 60lbs, I've done it before. Spider Silk is an awesome string. Definitely more durable than the Classic without much sacrifice in playability.

When they last updated their strings a couple years back it took a lot longer to come to market than what they posted when it did come out, and their ICE nat. gut string that they said was their signature string was to be able to be strung up to 65 lbs. but when it came out they lowered it to 60 lbs. so evidently they have issues with it.
Be careful with cheap gut, as many had issues especially if strung over 60 lbs, as the cheap stuff evidently can't take it in comparison to quality nat. gut strings.
Many here have had sucess with it, and evidently they strung it at a low tension. I will not use it until it is proven to hold up, as if I string this in a clients racquet and it snaps early it reflects on me, so it just is not worth it, also most of my gut customers have it strung above the 60 lb. limit.
Typically with gut you get what you pay for.

If nothing else, the quality of the PM gut blows Tonic out of the water. It may be inexpensive, but it is extremely high quality. Not "cheap".

I was thinking of having it in the crosses with poly mains, that way i could string it a bit lower. Is the spider silk also prone to snapping?

All Gaucho and the rest of econo gut are prone to premature snapping. But as long as you're careful with stringing, you'll have more success than failure.

My question is, why are you using gut in the crosses?

Im not yet but i was thinking about it. My thinking is that if i can get some value gut then its not going to burn a hole in my pocket and using them as a cross then i would get better durability. I know people say its a waste in the mains and if using something like vs that may be true but surely its still going to play and feel better than having synthetic gut in the crosses. What i would probably do is string up two rackets at once and have one gut mains/poly crosses and the other poly mains/ gut crosses

It is certainly not a waste in the mains.

I think it IS a waste in the crosses. A good multi will do just as well.

Anytime you have gut in your stringbed, it's going to play better. Question is, how much better and is it worth the $$$ and the effort?

But if you're putting gut in the crosses, yes it WILL play better than your favorite synthetic/multi, but not much better. And that's what I'm getting at, it may not worth the $$$ and effort.

But yeah, try it out for yourself.

With gut in the crosses, and poly in the mains, the set up would hit more like a poly.
With gut in the mains and Poly in the crosses, that set up will feel more like a gut feel toned down a little with the poly.

Yes...I believe both of the ones that snapped were the Classic. I had another set that was red in color but I never used it after seeing the Classic snap.
