Gonzalez´s racket

I was looking at the Babolat store and i searched the player´s gear and it had said that Fernando Gonzalez is using Pure Storm +...is that tour plus? It says on TW that he uses the Pure Storm(even though its just a PJ) but i was still curious, him being one of my favorite players and all. If anyone has any information on this that´d be great.

Gonzalez uses a 2nd gen Pure Control, the lava/swirly version that is 330g unstrung. The Pure Storm is just a paintjob.

be that as it may, it still said the plus version...There isn´t a regular Pure Storm Plus, so is there a weird plus version of the regular Pure Storm? I know he uses a PJ but I'm still interested in this weird plus that was written beside his gear on the Babolat site.

Right I get what you mean, indeed I don't think there's a regular Pure Storm in plus length but there's a Storm Tour Plus yet Gonzo in not advertising the Tour but the regular. But all I know is Gonzo indeed uses a plus length stick, the Pure Control Plus.

Well me too, the swirly graphics are really one of a kind. And this stick plays great too, I had a real hard time deciding whether these or my old Head Radical Twintubes are to be main sticks so the best solution is both! I use these when I'm staying at the baseline more and the Radicals when my strategy involves more net play and touches.

That is a beautiful racquet

I have the same racquet, solid stick. But imo it has some stability issues especially at 3&9, even though it would be considered a heavy stick at 330g unstr. I personally believe that Gonzo plays with a lead tape modified plus version of this. Also I remember reading here in the forum that someone got a hold of his smashed racquet and it had lead tape everywhere on it.

Does anyone by any chance know the specs of his frames?

In the photo Chancep2120 provided it appears Gonzo did have 4 x 4" x 0.25" of lead tape at 3 & 9.

ipitythefool (Mr.T?), could you elaborate on the stability issues? Problem with off-center hits or more serious than that?

Whenever he breaks a racket (3 times a week or so) he throws it into the crowd so it shouldn't be that hard to find one
