Greatest threat to Swiatek

7-6 6-3 Gauff vs Swiatek. First set was obviously very close. Sabelenka does seem like a threat, but we'll see if she can get over her grand slam struggles.

Well, if you watched that Gauff match, even that first set always seemed to be on Swiatek's racket. Iga wasn't playing her best, made a lot of unforced errors, but nevertheless seemed to have the momentum. When she needed to, she won the points that mattered. I agree that Sabelenka's inconsistency means she could lose at any time, but she is playing about as well as she's ever played.

This is a strange statement to make considering Iga is defending champion here.

Have you seen her win back to back tournaments?
I did not !
It's a rare thing in WTA in recent times. So better be patient and hope for the best.

Hence the statement

Turning out to be a good call. Real threats are dwindling and Sloane is definitely one of them.
I watched her today. She’s not pushing herself but she didn’t have to. And she looks invested.

Good to see her looking invested. She never seems to fear anyone but usually doesn't seem to care too much either. A motivated Sloane vs Swiatek would be interesting.

Would it be the final?

She seems like a nice lady. Is she a major threat to Swiatek?

Hm hard to say. Iga is playin some great tennis in RG again. It's her playground and the upset is gonna be hard. But Tamara became a hero in our small country and made the biggest result for our tennis since 1977. And as Madari said she is a great down to earth girl. In my eyes she is a winner already.

Krejcikova had 3 match points against her in Rome. And she hasn't lost a match since then. Won a tournement, and just crushed Svitolina and Stephens.

The Swiatek/Krejcikova was outstanding in Rome, so I hope they face against in SF.

Greatest threat to swiatek is herself, that was a horrible performance or maybe it’s the leg I don’t know.

swiatek has a bright future. but some part of me is glad she lost just to stop hearing people acting like she already won 10 FO titles and achieved world #1. every WTA player had an easier draw this tournament with all the withdrawals, but iga's still managed to be a little easier. she has a good forehand but everything else is underdeveloped. i'm not that thrilled about sakkari looking like the best bet to win FO either...she is playing her same top 20 level game but benefitting from a lack of a challenge, except for her match against mertens

Serena really blew a big chance. Well, she didnt really blow anything, since she lost to a better playing player, but still, she had a nice looking path.

WTA tour is a joke and some people are so deluded that they think when top 20 players win slams is a sign of depth of field while it's quite the opposite, there is total lack of truly good players.

No truly great players. Once Djoker and Nadal aren't around you'll have something similar. Guys like Berretini winning a slam. Thiem and Zverev are decent but that US Open was a joke. Busta in the semis again? Yikes.

Unlikely someone like Berettini does it but yes we are getting back to the dark ages from the period when Sampras slowed down and until Federer truly emerged. Federer in 2002 didn't look like Goat to be but 2 years later expectations changed... So maybe there is a teenager out there that will be unleashed in 5 years time
