Grip Guide: does it work with head grips?

most of the guides of grips( continental, eastern, etc) show a square grip, but the head grips are a lot more rectangular, does someone knows if those guides works on head too?

What do you mean? every grip is the same on every racket (continental, esatern, western etc.) but what I have seen are some rackets that have more of a round shape on the handle and others more exactly like a octagon (my wilson k six one tour is like this) so I don't know if that's what you mean

I know that it is easier to use continental and eastern on head raquets, but
hard to use semi-western on head grips.
I own a head liquidmetal radical and I naturally used eastern and now recently changed to semi-western...
I heard that most pros that use head actually take out their grip and replace it with wilson grip.

OP, all the handles i have seen have 8 sides to them
i agree there might be some that are a little more rectangular shaped than others, but they should all have 8 sides
so to answer your question, yes, all grip guides should work with all tennis racquet grips

Actually, when I hold a SW on my wilson, then establish the same racquet face angle on a head racquet of mine, I'm in an Extreme eastern, right on the corner of the bevel. When I do the same with my prince, I'm almost in a full western. It's actually quite noticeable.

Grip size affects this too. 4 3/8 grip I have eastern FH grip, 4 1/4 grip I am close to extreme eastern FH grip.

The shape of the handle is so important to your game.

Hello Ronalditop,

The grip guides still apply for the rectangular handles if you are using the knuckle on the base of your index finger as the reference point. The problem is in the allocation of bevel space/size. On the more rectangular handles bevel 3 is larger which is great for the Eastern forehand if that is your primary grip. Unfortunately bevel 2 (Cont.) and bevel 4 (SW) are smaller. In my opinion this makes these grips more difficult to find and the handle does not fit as well in your hand for these grips. The square grips give more space to bevel 2 and 4 but if the SW and the Cont are your primary grips these bevels could be even larger. Below is a link to the guide that we have on our site. You might find it interesting.

Wilson has one of the most squareish grips. Head has a more rounder grip, but that doesn't mean you can't use different grips. It's just a little harder to feel the bevels for a more accurate grip. But if you've played long enough, maybe 3.5+ then that shouldn't be a problem. It should all feel the same.
