Gstaad Final: Lopez +322 vs. Gasquet -352

Gasquet is 2-0 against Lopez but this is their 1st meeting on clay. I like Gasquet in straight sets.

P.S. I didn't realize this was a best of 5 sets match. I like Gasquet in 4 sets.

it will be a close one i think because lopez keeps it in and gasquet releys on winners and makes alot of mistakes i like lopez 2-1

Also, looking at their paths, Gasquet's had a MUCH easier time this tournament. Lopez seems to have gone to a tiebreak every other set.

Gstaad is usually best of five. Gasquet wins in four sets, 7-6, 6-7, 6-3 6-3. Currently holds grass and clay titles - only man currently doing this at ATP level iirc.

nice multi-surface performance... bien joué richard !!! :D
since RG, he only lost (twice) to roger...
this win is great for his confidence, and that's what his flashy game needed !

He has no business in top 50, he should be well inside top 20 with his game, awesome backhand, solid FH, reliable serve, good volley, the whole shebang. When is he going to take after Nadal and hit a gym I wonder?

two titles against wannabe players.... best wins against Bjorkman and Gaudio.

Wow, he's really good. Look at the rest of his results against the REAL competition.

1-3 in slams, only win against Wang

You make me laugh, you obviously don't know about his game.

hey Mr. Ignorant, did you check last year ? ;)

Nb: and for this year, you forgot haas in davis cup...

wow, a Davis Cup win against Haas a win against a guy that can't even crack the top 20 he's really good......

And yes I checked last year, last time I checked he only had one title, Notthingham against players that can barely qualify in slams.

Wonder what all you idiots see in him, Monfils and Nadal are around his age and much more talented.

Last time I checked Gasquet had 3 titles: 2 Nottinghams (beating Mirny and Björkman in the finals) and 1 Gstaad and 2 finals including the ATP Masters in Hamburg which he lost in close 3 sets against Federer!
The "much more talented" Monfils has exactly 1 title in Sopot last year (whith a very easy draw) and 3 finals in none MS-events!
But don't let facts disturb your bias and ingorance. You further proved that you don't know much!

PS: Everyone who uses yahoo as his main source cannot be taken seriously in a pro player discussion!

thats 1 title last year, and 2 this year, It's not that hard to win Notthingham.

Look at Monfils results, he at least plays tournaments that have REAL PLAYERS, unlike Gasquet.

Gasquet has even lost in the 1st round to 7 times this year, 7!!!!

I don't know much? Sorry buddy, but if you think someone with 7 first round losses is good, then I don't think YOU should be posting in this discussion section.

Poor taco, Gasquet already reached the N°12 spot on the ATP entry rankings, and it had nothing to do with luck, he earned it on the courts by playing some good tennis often enough to reach that N°12 spot, and only dumb as.ses can seriously believe that a player can do it with "no game". And if you believe that being #12 is nothing good in tennis, let me remind you that at one point, only 11 players in the world are considered better, and several millions inferiors... Can you understand that simple fact?

Nadal yes, Monfils not so much. Gasquet looks to be getting back on track and will be ranked higher than Monfils by the end of the year.

Gasquet has had some injury problems this year. He says he's getting back on track. If he's so overrated, how did he beat Federer last year?

we can go on and on.....

first to dandy2fast, poor you. No idea where the hell your getting your info, Gasquet is 48th in the rankings, not 12th. And I think that YOU are the dumbass, not me if you don't know this simple fact.

To Steve, currently Monfils is ranked 25 full spots ahead of Gasquet. If you believe he will pass Monfils by the end of the year you are definitely on crack.

And to superman, who cares what he says? Every human being is optimistic about themselves, including me, you, everyone on this board and Gasquet.
His win against Federer was nothing but luck, and he is definitely overrated. He beats feeble competition but when he faces the big boys he pees in his pants.

Bottomline is Gasquet is a good player but nothing great. He hasn't been a threat at a single slam in his career, and even hasn't won a Masters Event in his career. He needs to beef up his game, and my opinion about him won't change until he beats REAL tennis players.

With that being said, I am gladly leaving this thread because of all the ignorant idiots that just post without any knowledge of the pro game.

Poor Taco, can't you understand what you read? I never said that Gasquet is currently #12, I just said he already reached that spot, it was last year (9/12/2005), and if you want to know where I get that info from, I can tell you it doesn't come from hell, just click on the following link, if you have enough courage... http://www.atptennis.com/en/players/playerprofiles/default2.asp?playersearch=gasquet

Now if you have clicked on the link above, then just look in the mirror and you can see who the dumbass is, of course you are free to keep arguing even when someone brings your noze in your own sh.it... But the best favor you could give to your own person, would be to stop to embarass yourself by posting stupid comments about Gasquet, or tennis in general on this forum.

all that in the same thread, just a few posts later...

So according to you : Gasquet is a good player who has no game!!!

I hope that you see now how weird is your point of view... Or can you explain how a player can be good with no game?

The sad thing is that I can't say that your comments make you lose credibility, no I can't say that, and simply because at first you never had any.

Actually, this is an interesting comparison:

http://www.atptennis.com/en/players...player1=Monfils,+Gael&player2=richard+gasquet

Both have exactly the same record this year - 17-14!

However, Gasquet has won a total of 2 tournaments this year, whereas Monfils has 0. (For a career total of 3 for Gasquet, 1 for Monfils). Gasquet has also reached a Masters Series final, which Monfils has yet to do.

Gasquet's highest ranking ever was 12; Monfils is currently at 23, his highest ever.

So far, Gasquet has had a better career than Monfils in all respects; Monfils is just starting to catch up now...

With all due respect, aka none, you must be one of the biggest pompous aholes on this forum. Everyone in this thread besides you is discussing their views in a civil manner and all you do is insult everyone who has a differing opinion than you.

You don't need to call people "dumbass," "ignorant idiots," in order to get your point across.

By the way, dumbass, why in the world would you pick Gasquet to be in the Top 10 five years from now? Didn't you say he's got "no game"?
