Handling Natural Gut - 6M or 12M Preference Hybrid Job

For all stringers out there, while stringing hybrid jobs, do you prefer 6M prepackaged set(VS Touch 16) over handling a full set and cutting that into half and storing the other half for later?
I guess my clarification is do you find it harder to uncoil the 40 ft gut without kinking it in the process. For a home stringer like me, I prefer prepackaged 20ft string because you are done with the string and don’t have to worry about storing or dealing with kinking with gut. Thanks.

I like Luxilon natural gut as it comes with a green marker in the middle point to cut for hybrids so I just make the cut there without too much uncoiling, and it also comes with a re-sealable package to store the other half of the set. Haven’t had any kinking issues of handling the gut carefully either way, but I agree it’s nice to not think about all that when you get the half set.

12 meters is 39.4 feet. 12.2 meters is 40 feet. I seldom receive 6 meter NG packages. I measure, but will seldom cut unless the frame calls for like 16' for mains.

The resealable pouch and the green dot in the center to make the cut was nice from Luxilon.
I pretty much use VS gut these days. Half set is only slightly more than half price of full set. So, I’ll stick buying the 6M packets for ease of use.

Not sure how you are uncoiling it, but I normally cut just one of the ties, then slowly un-feed one end around & around until I have & 20ft. Then I measure (holding on to the uncoiled portion in one hand), uncoil/recoil as necessary, then cut.

What remains gets put back into the package, then into a ziplock baggie, and stored under my machine.

This is a super helpful tip. I cut both ties normally and that maybe why I feel the fear to deal with lengthier string. Appreciate your input.

Obviously not cheap old codgers like me.....

Klip in 40 foot and cut it please.....

If you have an oversize racket and are changing out the strings, for heaven's sake save the mains for a smaller racket head string job by carefully cutting the knot and threading out the mains.

Put the used mains next your jar of old screws/brackets/nails
