Head Prestige 660 Tour vs Völkl Tour 10 MP vs Yonex RDX 500

Hi! For the last 8 years I've been playing with a pair of Head Prestige 660 Tour (102 sq. in.) and always with satisfaction. Recently I began to think it might be high time to try out some new racquets. So I demoed the above mentioned Völkl, mainly because of my own curiosity of the brand and the many good remarks here on TW.

But to my suprise I didn't really like it. The frame had a unfamiliar stiff and harsh feel when you hit the ball (strung at 57 lbs) compared to the Head. Likewise, the stringbead felt different; much more lively feel in a slightly negative way. Could it be that I'm so used to the Head's denser string pattern 18 x 20 (instead of 16 x 19)? I just figure that I can control my strokes better with the Head. One last negative comment: my serve became considerably weaker in regard of power, placement as well as with spin. The only obvious advantages I recieved with the Völkl was more spin and slightly more power on ground strokes.

So what should I do then?
I'm really keen on changing racquets, but what racquet would be a proper replacement for the Prestige 660? I'm thinking of the iPrestige 630 or the LM equivalent. But what about Yonex RDX 500?
It seems like a really nice racquet, should I try it out (and perhaps its HD model)?

I tried the Völkl out thinking that the 16 x 9 string bed would improve my game - it didn't. Here I'm then, likely to choose between Head iPrestige 630 and Yonex RDX 500 HD.

Your first question should be, what do you want that is different from the 660? There isn't anything like it made now. Anything stiffer and/or with titanium in it will feel harsher and more immediate, but also more powerful, which is where things seem to be headed these days.

Of the Volkls, the C-10 Pro has a more organic feel than the Tour 10, it doesn't have titanium and is flexier. Sure, try the Yonex, or maybe Fischer Pro 1, the Kennex Heritage R also looks interesting.

You can still get new 660's on the net. Email me for more info. I posted the URL but it was deleted which I can understand because the purpose of this board is not to advertise the competition even if it is for a product not carried by TW.

Actually the post was not deleted, it was in another thread.

you can get some 660's at www.tennisrays.com for $75 + shipping. They only have some limited sizes but you shold be able to build something up to the right grip size

Head Prestige Tour/Classic/Trisys 300 660 has the airiest, hottest, sweetest sweetspot of any racquet I ever used. Good luck trying to improve apon perfection. Try the iPrestige mp. Sort of merging a Head and Wilson racquet.
