Head Radical Pro

In my search for a frame that is similar to my old Radical TwinTube Oversized (zebra pj), and having tried the MicrGel and Flexpoint versions of that frame, and not liking how light they were, I was interested in peoples thoughts on the "Pro" versions of the Rad.

Specifically the:

Flexpoint Radical Tour
MicroGel Radical Pro
Youtek Radical Pro

I know they have a smaller head then the OS, but the weight seems to be similar.

Anyone played with these and have thoughts?

Thanks

IMO the it's better to get a regular radical OS and lead it up. the three you mentioned all have an open string pattern and play quite differently.

the flexpoint radical tour hits well, but it doesn't hit like the twintube OS. the flex is a bit different and they're also out of production.

the microgel radical pro is just unstable IMO, nowhere near as solid as the TT OS.

the youtek radical pro hits decently though a bit light. the higher swingweight does let it play similar to the TT OS, but the flex just isn't the same.

IMO the big issue is that most of the newer radicals don't have the same kind of flex that the twintubes did. you might want to try the youtek radical OS and lead and leather it up to spec.

I love the microgel rad pro, it's definitely heavier than the oversize, and it feels stiffer, but nowhere near harsh. I really love how it plays. Strung up with poly mains and soft crosses, it's great. The string pattern is nice and open so you can take huge rips at the ball and rip the felt off. The stability is great too. It's definitely worth a lengthy playtest and major consideration.

Does the Microgel radical pro have a short grip? I play with a 2hb, and notice some heads have very little room to place two hands before the frame splits at the throat.

You could try a Liquidmetal Radical OS and lead-tape it. They're very affordable these days. TW and many other online retailers are selling it for $70 shipped.

I love the youtek Rad Pro. I have made the switch to the racquet. I like that it weighs around 11.6, but the SW is 345. It's the best of both worlds. I also prefer the open string pattern to the 18x20.

The pro offers me a lot of control on touch shots and I can also blast winners to both corners with good pace. I can't really describe the feel, but to me it is addictive. Some others have said it is muted, but it depends how you hit the ball. Demo it.

I don't have a problem with the 2hbh with my radical pros. And I love the open string pattern too, it's great with a full poly stringjob. I tried getting it strung all with gut and didn't like it as much, I also tried Poly mains and nxt crosses and it was okay, but too powerful still. The best setup was Full luxilon alu 16L.
