Headphones problem for Phillips pfl9432--why do the sound still come out of speakers?

This is a weird place to ask, but since it's my home board, well i am gonna try.

When I plug headphones into my TV, the sound still comes out of the speakers anyways (and out of the earphones of course).

I called Phillips thailand, their technical team said that's the way the TV works.

Since it's simply too stupid to be true, i need to ask phillips LCD TV owners here. Is this true? That even if I plug headphones into the TV, the sound is still supposed to come out of the TV anyways?

Please try to check your TV manuals, maybe they have the anwers to your situations
