Alright... McEnroe is not the greatest show since... well, much anything. But it's kinda been getting better over time.
Anyways... I find it interesting that Chuck Barris is gonna be a guest on the show on Tuesday night.
For those that don't know who Chuck Barris is (not Chuck Berry), he was the host of The Gong Show during the 70s, a television producer, and author of an "autobiography" which was later adapted to film under the same name: "Confessions of a Dangerous Mind."
If you believe the autobiography to be true (I'd imagine 70% or more of the people out there would believe it's totally not true while 30% would be wondering "What If..."). The guy's "autobiography" claims that while he was an exec/producer and host (he also created The Dating Game btw), he was also a government spook secretly under contract by the CIA.
Anyways... weird/fun stuff, and odd that people that know him seem incapable of dispelling his claim. He was also considered the harbinger of poison and social destruction through the airways in his day too (specifically for The Gong Show).
I shouldn't expect much, but I figure something unexpected or even interesting might happen. But this guy always keeps his answers very vague when people ask him if his autobiography was true At the very least, I'm just curious how it'll go... but John might end up grasping for weird straws like he has in other interviews (trying too hard to make connections between his guest's experiences and his own experiences/thoughts on life...).
But hey... the former host of a horrible show called "The Chair" interviewing the former host of a show which had the premise of putting horrible performances on TV and Gong-ing them off stage when the performance becomes beyond unbearable is kinda... weird...
