Help matching racquets

Hey guys,

I currently own 3 blades 18x20 v7, and I'm planning on matching 2 and selling the third one. I measured all three on a head 3 in 1, and results are as following (unstrung values):

- Racquet 1: weight = 308.9g; swingweight = 311.5; balance = 32.5cm.
- Racquet 2: weight = 308.6g; swingweight = 304.5; balance = 32cm.
- Racquet 3: weight = 304g; swingweight = 296.5; balance = 33cm.

Racquets 1 and 2 seem easier to match, but I don't want to add too much weight, as I'm gonna put a leather grip on both racquets I'm going to keep.

What do you guys think? Would you pick a different pair?

Now that’s going to be hard if you don’t want to add too much weight

2g at 12 of #2 for the swingweigh. Balance will be 32.2. Weight 310.6

racquet #1 add 2g at the buttcap. 310 static weight and balance of 32.3.

If you want to get that MM I’d check how much weight you need at 20cm of #2 and the but Cap of #1. They should match at one point.
You could add weird elsewhere like at the throabut I like to have it hidden.

your Blades will be at 340sw once strung or around that.

Thanks! I believe that suggestion would make both racquets close enough, but I'm a bit scared by the 340sw, lol. Well, I've always liked #1 and 2 better, so maybe I'm used to the high sw already. I use 1.18 strings, so maybe it sits around 335 on #1.

Look at the TWU Manual and Auto matching Php. Since mass is an issue, see what is needed to get #3 to match #2.

Thanks!
Wouldn't it be a lot tougher to reach a closer balance while also having to add mass to the hoop on #3, though?

I searched for that auto matching tool, but wasn't able to find it. Could you post a link please?

1 gram at 12 adds 4 swing weight points.

Add one gram at 12 to racquet 2, close enough

Add three grams at 12 to racquet 3, close enough.
Edit: add one or two gram to buttcap on racquet 3 to keep balance points similar.

This isn’t rocket science. Those are probably as close to matched as a top 500 player gets.

I would go back and recheck my specs. Specs are all over the place. I’ve found when measuring specs one reading can be very much different than the next especially when you mount and unmounting the racket. Make 5 or 6 measurements and Use an average. Once you’re confident what the specs are work from there.

We've spent at least half an hour checking and re-checking those specs, I guess it's Wilson's quality control to blame.

Wow, a 15 point difference in SW, 4.9 g difference in weight, and 1 cm difference in balance. Did you buy these frames used? I’m starting to suspect user mods. I would start over with new grips and grommets to see how far off the bare rackets are to begin with.

I went with @Wheelz suggestion. They're close enough now.

Btw, I've always wondered if swingtool was precise. I took 10 measurements on each racquet, and results were as following:

racquet #1: 310, 310, 309, 309, 310, 312, 311, 315, 313, 312 = 311.1 average (head 3 in 1 measured 311.5)

racquet #2: 304, 303, 303, 305, 306, 304, 304, 304, 305, 304 = 304.2 average (head 3 in 1 measured 304.5)

Verdict: swingtool is legit!

Maybe it could be even more precise, depending on the method used to hang the racquet.

If you move your cross string used for a pivot you will get different SWs. Its a way to fine tune SwingTool is you have an actual measurement to compare to.

I actually decided to hang my racquet from the bottom of the handle, following a method used by another fellow poster (hang point was -0.1cm).

Here's what I did:

If you took 10 readings, I would throw out the top and bottom numbers before you average. Yours are pretty close, so it may not matter, but that gets rid of outliers just in case technique was off on some tries.
