Help Me w/ My Serve *VIDEO*

Its been a long time since ive posted anything here but better late than never. This is my first year on a tennis team so i had to practice serving, and this is the product of 3 weeks of practice. It looked and resulted in absolute crap before i started practicing . I know im gonna get a whole bunch of complaints about the angle, but i had no control over it. I can see that i can time it better and stop my left arm dangling, but ive never been good at analyzing, so shoot.

Edit// I know the camera work is crappy so bear with it. I included the double faults i had as well. I blame that on the crappy lighting there though :D

You seem to be acutally moving backwards as you serve, so toss the ball farther in front of you and jump forward to it. also try to get full extension with your arm at the point of impact.

You seem to have a very nice form on your serve. Maybe that's why not too many people chime in.

I agree with Tennisguyak that it'd help if you toss the ball a little more in front of you to get more forward momentum. But other than that, I don't see anything else glaringly wrong that you should fix on your form. Just keep practicing your serve a lot. It's worth spending the time on.

I learned today the hard way haha. I was double faulting like crazy once i got a little tired. Guess i need to shadow my serve some more.

You need to work more on hitting up on the ball. Your motion is set up to do this, leg bend, moving body up into the ball, but when you strike the ball, a lot of times you aren't moving the racket up through the ball, but more on the back or the top. You hit a lot into the net because of this. Really concentrate on the racket moving upward and use topspin to bring the ball into the court. Overall your motion looks pretty good although it is hard to see any details because it is so dark.

Would that mean that i have to toss the ball a little lower? Or should i just try to push off a little harder with my legs?

I know i dont have even close to a perfect serve guys. No tips?

dude, dun be too negative. putting urself down isnt a good way to go thru life.

anywayz, back to ur serve. i notice you double fault a few times cos ur not relax enuf, loosen those shoulder muscles and wrist. relax, breath slowly. dun be too impatient to serve. yeah, thats my input.:?

I think you body and toss are OK as far as I can see with the darkness, it is more the swing path of the racket. Concentrate on that, slight adjustments to your body motion may come about naturally as you get the racket in the right path. Don't force more leg motion, you don't want to be squatting and jumping up - that doesn't add anything to the serve and makes it less consistant.

i mean like u dont seem to hit the ball at the highest point u can jumping up and transfering ur weight into it. u seem to wait for it to fall a little and then hit it which ended up in u not going up so high and ur serve wont be as strong as it can be,. other than that u are looking good

In tennis and anything that requires any skill, ive found that i can only be disappointed if i see anything i do as positive. So my outlook has become negative in order to see flaws instead of things im doing right.

And as for my swing path, ill try it out once i get back onto the court but from what i remember, the ball is a bit too high for me to brush up on it hard. Ill see if i can do it without changing the toss but ill adjust if i have to. Ill report back on my results unless my tennis elbow doesnt die out by then
