so it is said that every court has a different speed. What do they mean by "speed of court?" is it when the ball comes into contact with court and how it bounces? I'm sure by knowing the speed of the court, you can adjust your game to your opponent to have the edge. Furthermore, how do slow down the speed of the court or slow it down. I read somewhere in one of the national court, where they have slowed down the court speed every so number of years?

I've noticed in one of the courts I play with at a high school they re-surface the courts and I can defy see the ball kick to the side after my serve as oppose to the normal court I usually play I can hardly see it kick. Does this have to do anything with the speed of the court too??? Now knowing this, I believe its best to play on all different kinds of courts to really improve and not get used to only "your court." any thoughts?

Speed of the court partly refers to how the ball bounces off the court: Clay being the most obvious example of a slow court as the ball sinks into the surface a little and pops up, bleeding off a lot of speed.

In general, a smoother court will play faster in that the ball will slide more on the surface. A rougher surface will normally slow the ball down and apply more spin. I'm sure that there are exceptions to these rules, but that's mostly what I notice.
