hiding tennis racquets in a bag..

Hello, does anybody have an idea on how to sneak out of the house, with a tennis racquet in your bag, but without being found out that you're out for tennis?

I'm thinking I could use a really huge bag, but it's hard to find backpacks which can fit a tennis racket (including the handles, not just the heads). Tennis bags are sort of out of the question.. people can tell I'm going to play tennis what way..

Any ideas? :D

How bout a cardboard box, a guitar case (like the soft backpack ones), or a duffel bag I think those are big enough to hide a tennis racket. May I ask why are you trying to "sneak" out of your house with a tennis racket?

You can ask your hitting buddy to hold the racket for you. Or try stashing it somewhere outside (in a protective case of course :D) and pick it up as you go out.

Take out the trash and put it into the trash bag... or just wait until your parents are gone, then just walk out with the racquet in hand

Drop the racquets outside your window into your backyard. Go out of the house and go around to the back to pick them up. On the way back do the reverse.

If you have a friend you trust, leave a racquet at his house ask them to bring them when you play.

If you have a car, leave them there as long as if it is not too hot.

Kind of sad though you have to sneak around to play tennis. :?

I’ve often wondered why they don’t make tennis rackets that can be disassembled for portability – at the top of the handle, just like top-of-the-line sticks/cues for billiards/pool where manufacturing tolerances also require extremely high quality control. :) Basically, think of a very high quality tennis racket that can be unscrewed and practically folded almost in half, fitting into much smaller bags, and much more easily carried anywhere on earth.

^^^Sounds like you should begin working on that new invention.

To answer the OPs question, get a large duffel bag as someone said before. Nike and Adidas make good sturdy bags.

ROFL, I can't see why wanting to play tennis could become such a hassle for you, unless it's tennis with the Williams sisters. We all just can't let that happen, you know. Maybe you can explain some of the background story to us.

I just live with the criticism of everyone else, my niece, nephew, mother, sister, brother-in-law, brother and all family.

Um...?

This thread is hilarious. All I picture is some hardcore tennis junkie, confined to tennis rehab, and ALL they can think about is how they're gonna break out to go play... 1... precious... set...

That said, hide your racquets in a big bag of weed. No one will be the wiser!

Oh, and good luck with whatever this "problem" you have. ;-)

Snauwert made a frame that was joined together midway down the shaft that you could take apart in the early 1990's.

sorry for the late reply, but here's the story..

I've always been bad at sports, worst in my family. When I say I'd beat my brother (or dad etc) it's always been just a light hearted joke, but deep inside it feels sad not being able to beat them in tennis..

So my plan is to pretend I never do sports, and then one day I challenge them at a game of tennis, and bam, 6-0, 6-0, 6-0 or something :D

So, I've been secretly learning how to play tennis properly from coaching etc, but it's been pretty hard sneaking out of the house.. I actually got caught once when returning home, but came up with a good excuse..

There was actually a suggestion from someone else, to put the tennis gear etc in my car, but problem is I don't have a car nor a driver's license.. blah this makes me feel hopeless

btw, that duffel bag suggestion is awesome, except maybe they'd find it suspicious?

aight bro i think i know what you can do. this may sound weird but hear me out. if you are playing at schools. you can leave your racket there and pic it up and leave it there after your practice (provided you on the tennis team). as for the coaching. why not just use his racket? if you explain to him (or her) im sure they will understand. anyway. if you try to use a duffel they will think you are weight training and that could lead to them looking into your bag if they dont see any muscle results or whatever they think you are. a lil trick i learned to sneak out and play tennis is to leave your racket hidden an hour before in your garage, get it and go. than coming home, put it in a bush covered and hidden or somewhere close and you can keep your eye on. say you are takin out the trash or something pic it up and bail out of there. my last thought is to just say you are cleaning the garage and put all the raket gear somewhere and than take it before anyone knows the better and put it back when you go through the garage. thats just me though

Buds idea gets my vote. No parent I know will question you for taking out the trash.

Unless he had never done it before......

Anyway, what you should do is dig the garden and bury your racket there. But make sure the spot is secluded or away from prying eyes. Next, take a plank attached to a pole and write this "R.I.P". If anyone asked, just say that your pet died and you buried it there. :)

If you are still at school I remember mine used to have lockers, could you leave it in that?

Otherwise the best is probably to leave it with a coach or hitting partner. Failing that maybe you have a buddy nearby that you could leave it with?

What you need to do isn't hiding your racquets in a not-for-tennis bag. You need to disguise your tennis bag as a fashion accessory. Take your tennis bag to work, to school, to the laundromat, fast-food joints, bars, gas stations, everywhere you go. Then, once everyone is used to seeing you with the tennis bag at all times, you can go play as much tennis as you want.

It could be expensive, but you could build a transportation machine (ie The Fly). Just don't get in it with the racquet.

Just put it where you go play. If you're playing with a coach, let the coach keep your racket. If you're playing at a tennis place, let the desk keep it. If you really need to take the racket back home, say that you're going out to play some tennis baseball with the members of the National Honor Society (say there's a tourney)

I had the same idea, but mine wasn't to make it portable, I want them to make interchangable handles, that way if you break a string, you can just change the handle to ur new racquet... MY IDEA... SO STAY AWAY WILSON, HEAD, PRINCE, but most of all... BABOLAT

lol, this is a funny thread. i think all of these suggestions came up already but what i would do is leave it with a friend, leave it in my locker, or hide it in a bush.

Out for "Tennis" Yeah right, i did used to tell my parents i was going out for tennis but would actually go visit my girlfriend who had her own apt. one time out of desperation i stopped by the courts so i would look sweaty and the grass was wet from the sprinklers so i took my tennis shirt off and got it wet so i would look sweaty...ahh those crazy days. :)

You could plan ahead and mail your racquets to the courts...just make sure you time your arrival with the delivery.

Duffel bag and trash are good ideas in principle, but they will get suspicious and check your bag. You gotta find a way to store your racquet outside your house. If you are taking lessons from a coach just ask him to look after it for you.

Oh, wear your tennis clothes under your normal clothes and maybe take a backpack with a couple of books... say you're going to the library.

A plastic bag might be useful too, that way you can take your sweaty t-shirt off and stash it in there and come home looking like you'v been in the library!!!

I have no idea on how to sneak out a racquet, but reading your story was pretty cool, yet a little bit sad. I wish you the best of luck and hope you seriously own your dad and brother on the courts!

i was thinking this ^^^^^ or u could put the handle down the back of your pants and head up against your back ,or if u are walking to the courts leave your racquet in the woods (in some kind of plastic of course)

If you're too embarrassed to be seen going to play tennis, then you shouldn't be playing tennis. Be proud!
