How do you think Federer’s retirement will pan out?

To make such a thread, you are not a Fed fan...so the story always goes for the TTW Fednatics.

Anywho....said in several threads recently, Fed has already been alluding to something pivotal happening at Laver in his home country. Whether it is when he announces his retirement, or whether he makes it his last tourney , I suspect something will happen here in the next year as his last or on the even 2020.

He hasn’t looked happy playing and is frustrated to the point of bagging on ball kids and arguing with umps more and more. His play quality has serious lows and his highs are rarely what they used to be. He still manages wins but the end if this years has been more decline than anything.

We will see. 2017 was awesome but don’t think Fed or Nadal will repeat.

Probably posting from the court between sets.

He will have a retirement year, i.e. in early January 2020 he will announce his retirement by the end of the season the same year. He will play at Olympics and carry Swiss flag. At the age of 39 in his 40th year of life, Roger Federer will leave tennis. He will walk away in the sunset holding hands with other all time greats of sport :( Good bye great champ, you will be dearly missed :(

Not you. That was my poke at some of these other people around here. Remember, I created a thread with the same idea and was immediately a Fed hater for even bringing it up.

Logical discussion to me. Cheers.
OK, cheers.
By the way, I was not aware that I "stole" your idea. Sorry about that.:D
Anyway, although the scope of this thread though being about Fed's retirement, is based on a different angle.

Fed's retirement has been a post here for years. But it seems more real this year. To me, and like you, I think we all see SOMETHING going on right now and I think its' a great discussion.

EDIT to add, what really got me thinking about it was Fed changing from his standard adamant denial of retirement, to HIS mentioneding it and even joking about it in a very real sense.

Sometimes I think that this is actually a very boring life. After leading such an active life, this would seem so dead. I mean 40 is like peak of one's career in a normal job.
I know, I thought about that too. Even I am tired of travelling around to watch beautiful places. Yes got it, this earth is beautiful. Lets do some work instead. He also doesn't seem to have any sort of interest to continue with as a day job. So I am, maybe he thinks, What the heck shall I do?

I know some people who travel all the time... they run blogs for survival and even they burn out in 5 years. I mean traveling is nice and stuff but I like traveling when I know I have a home to come back to at the end of it all. I know Rafa has his academy and will be busy with that. I am sure Fed will be invited to all prestigious tournaments to be a commentator. May be he will be associated with the sport that way.
