How many French Opens will Nadal win?

He has 10. Just won Monte Carlo without dropping a set. I'm going to pencil him in for another 3 at least (health permitting). Who will be the next non Nadal French Open winner? Only a vastly improved Djokovic or Wawrinka I think. I can't see any of the new generation beating him at the French.

I'm thinking one more - maybe two at a stretch which will take him to 12.

The reason I say that is that he is injury prone and he isn't getting any younger. A year after making the RG final, Stan is pretty much a non-factor because of a major knee injury that required surgery. If fit, Nadal should win this year and next but injury could strike at any time.

So fully fit nobody on the horizon can beat him? Maybe he should limit his schedule, preserve his body and rack up a few more French Opens.

I think that situation exists for the next 13 months encompassing the next two RG. After that his movement may slow further which will affect the level of dominance he is enjoying.

I think 13-14 is realistic if he starts pulling a Federer and completely skips and just focuses on tearing it up on clay and then maybe makes trips to Wimbledon and the US Open. It all just depends on whether his body burns out, he mentally burns out or whether or not somebody can finally actually step up to the plate and create some form of competition on clay. It isn't unrealistic to expect 2018, 2019 and then really expect him to ease off and have to schedule and plan around trying to be as rested as possible for 2020 and beyond. Probably will have to be completely done by 2022 if he is still around.

Wow that is a huge call. 13 wouldn't surprise me. I wouldn't bet my rent money on 15. I would want some good odds.

Why do I think that?

Well people now are debating how many sets he’ll lose during this claycourt season and him winning RG 2018 is considered a natural thing by everyone basically. At 32 freaking years of age. This era is pathetic and that won’t change much IMO in the next 3-4 years if I’m being honest.

And as for the health concerns, people have given him time till 2010 when he started. Now he’s winning tournaments without dropping more than 4 games in every set. He just must be a favourite even 5 years from now if he’s fit

And he can be, the time off he had this year before MC made him fresh and he can be reducing his schedule like Fed staring from next year to preserve the body and save himself for clay.

This year is a given. They should just go ahead and give him the trophy. As far as how many he'll end up with? I actually believe he will win as many as it takes to break Federer's record. My number is 14.

If he wins this year (which I dont think is as guranteed as posters here make it out to be) then i'm confident he can win at least 12. But every year it's so random what could happen with his form/injuries especially as he gets older.

This year is as guaranteed as you can get.

People here have a lot of faith in Nadal. Admittedly, it's very well earned. I'll say 10 just to be contrarian. Who knows? Maybe I'll be right.

Shock loss this year, injury stops the future ones.

Especially when this guy has something to say about it:

Who knows at this point? The guy's in top fighting shape on clay 9 out of 10 times (despite his very griveous 1001 injuries) and the CC field is just woeful. Really, sky's the limit.

11 I think.

Idk if I’m predicting or just hoping, but I reckon the field will be a lot stronger next year and we won’t be having fedal dominating. Things can change very quickly, as we’ve seen numerous times in history.

He has a couple more left in him, hard to put a number on it, but he is winning more.
