How many from North Carolina got moved down?

Just looking to see what cities got hit the hardest here in North Carolina. We usually have some really good teams that seem to be out of level and was just wondering who got the axe? Furthermore who got moved down by good fortune?

I have several buddies up here that are ticked at getting bumped up. One close friend got bumped from 3.0 to 4.0 after a very middle of the road season at 3.0.....

My Durham mens 4.0 team, which placed third at states, got hit hard: 4 guys bumped, although one succesfully appealed back down.

Interestingly enough, the state champion 4.0 team from Down East had only 1 player bumped up. Which leads me to ask: if we had so many better players than they, how did we lose to them?

Also of interest, the Southern Sectional Champion 4.5 team from Cary had only 2 guys bumped to 5.0 .

That algorythm needs more tuning.

Charlotte area 3.0s

We had over 50% of our local men's leagues for both Charlotte and Lake Norman get bumped from 3.0 to 3.5 this year. NC did not send a team to state this year for Men's 3.0, so wondering if that may have impacted how they do the national bench marking. Hasn't seemed to impact the women or other men's ratings. Comments?

Sorry - meant that NC did not send a men's 3.0 State winner to Sectionals. The team that won state declined to go and so did the alternates - so NC (Men 3.0) was not represented outside of NC in the National tourney.

I know a lot of people who got bumped up and none who got bumped down. Some of the most blatant sandbaggers I've ever seen in Gastonia, NC got bumped, including at least one who was moved a full point. (What self-respecting guy sandbags at 2.5 to win at 6.0 mixed? Pathetic!) My husband had to play against those losers last year, and I've never been so angry about sandbagging as I was then.

Also, a lot of people on my Charlotte women's 3.5, 7.5 combo, and 7.0 mixed teams were bumped to 4.0 from 3.5. One woman I played against at 4.0 was bumped to 4.5, and one of my 4.0 teammates was bumped as well.

Well, here in Greensboro, I don't know of anyone that got bumped down. Our team had two bumped to 4.5 and one appealed back down. There were several others bumped to 4.5 from other teams, all of which were very appropriate. There was one 4.0 that got bumped, but while he has had very solid years and Good NTRP results, I think would have been better to have stayed 4.0.

The one thing that happened here was a group of previous 3.5s that had won the state and gotten bumped to 4.0 spent all last year tanking matches and lossing as badly as they could, even telling others they were doing it ended up not getting bumped back down. (Just check out the first two players on this team.)

Now that is funny. Spending the year lossing on purpose (atleast lossing as badly as you can) and then not getting anything for it. That is like sitting out three years of USTA tennis so you can come back and self rate at a lower level.

In Charlotte, Men's 3.5 lost 9 guys and they went 1-2 at States. Charlotte 4.0 mens lost 4 guys and they played at sectionals. Charlotte is usaully hit pretty hard.

We discussed this today in Downeast. Gotta love the algorythm. All the guys I beat in the Spring received a bump. I however, did not. Brilliant!
