How will Nadal handle his eventual decline?

Just thinking of Fed and his recent fall in the rankings. Seems like he's in the mindset where he's thinking more of failure than of success. Nadal will eventual get to this point also. How will he handle it? Will he retire sooner than Fed or stay and fight it out?

IMO, he would carry on playing since he's not a guy who easily gives up (in this case retire).

He has found the fountain of youth - we won't be around to see his retirement.

Nadal will keep on fighting to win tournament after tournament. But when he's convinced that his 100% is no longer good enough, he will retire from the sport knowing he tried his best to be the best he could be.

yeah. i do not think nadal is the kind who would do a slow decline. the moment he decides that he can no longer summon a level that will allow him to be competitive, he will quit. i think the 2012 AO Final and the fact that it was actually really close, was the main reason why Nadal had not straight out retired from tennis last year. He just wanted a last shot at being competitive against Novak.

Nadal will stop playing when he thinks his knees can no longer take the beating it's getting.

I think he will retire in another 18 months. He'll retire at the top.

I just can't see his body continue to take the beating it's been receiving for another 4-5 years.

Then again, I could be wrong *shrugs*
