Hybrid String Rationale - Cyclone & Alu Power Spin

Question for those of you familiar with hybrid stringing:

I just bought a used Blade V7 16x19 on **** that was strung with Cyclone on the mains and Alu Power Spin on the crosses. I’ve not had a hybrid stringing pattern before, but most of what I read about is poly/multifilament or poly/gut combos. What would be the rational for the combo that I have? i like the way the racquet plays, but when I restring was thinking either a full bed of Cyclone or full bed of Hyper G. How would one expect these to be different from what I have now? Any other good suggestions for this racquet? Looking for lots of control and spin, but don‘t want to lose all power.

Thanks!

My guess is that's what the person had available. I really can't see putting ALU Spin in the crosses (ALU Rough, maybe??). ALU Spin is a shaped poly, but its not twisted, so the effects on spin with it in the crosses would be minimal.

You may be onto something there. There is a note taped to the racquet that says ”alu pwr spin”, but he **** listing says alu power rough for the crosses. Would that make more sense? Not familiar with Rough - would using it in the crosses be a strategy to maximize spin potential?

thanks!

Rough would provide more spin than the spin version if put in the crosses. But, most of your spin comes from the mains, so you probably wouldn't notice much of a difference anyway. I'd stick to a round poly for the crosses (if you want poly).
