I normally use full bed X1-B 17 in my sticks. If I go hybrid, like X1-B and RPM Blast, which do you recommend for the mains? And, if not RPM Blast, then please recommend another string.

My answer is "it depends".

If you are an all court player that volleys a lot, you might consider x1b mains at your normal tension or a couple lbs below normal with a smooth poly cross about 4 to 5 lbs below your main tension.

If you like to bash lots of topspin from the baseline, you might want rpm blast mains around 10%-15% below your normal x1b tension with a soft cross. I would not use x1b as a cross as it is too expensive and I find it not too durable. I would use a less expensive multi - bab addiction to nrg2 - or a syn gut - ban nvy, volkl syn gut, gosen or many others. I would string the soft cross 2 or 3 lbs higher than your poly mains.

Per recommendation of some knowledgeable folks here I tried Babolat Tonic+16 mains and Mosquito Bite Crosses at 52-48. Love the set-up.

try cyclone-- works well even low tension - to me was equal to alu rough and rpm blast for half the cost..

Why are you switching? More control? More power? Better durability? A poly in place of a multi (either in the mains or the crosses) is not going to play the same.

I personally like Babolat PHT and, even more so, Yonex PTP. They are both pretty slick (hell when i string the yonex i feel like ive washed my hands in olive oil). Another plus is that they are great value

The best smooth poly I've ever used is Solinco Outlast. It's getting to be too stiff for me though, so I've since switched.

I recently strung my racquets with Isospeed pro classic mains and Yonex PTP 17g 4 lbs. lower in the crosses. I am an all court player that uses plenty of topspin. Have six hours on one racquet and expect to get 10-15 hours. Very pleased with this set-up.

Maybe a smooth poly in the cross like MSV Co Focus 1.18 or 1.23 might work

Same here. Tried it once but felt too stiff, even as a cross with gut mains.

My favorite crosses with natural gut are 4G 1.25 and Focus Hex 1.23. 4G provides a little more control, especially when fresh, while FH provides more spin potential.

Some really great suggestions here. I like gut mains, and either Yonex PTP or WC Mosquito Bite crosses for my Prestiges. For Multi I agree the ISO pro classic is excellent. I have not crossed it with a poly before, so can't speak to durability but bet that plays nice too, may have to try it in place of gut next job.
