I cracked my c10 pro

Hi folks,

I cracked my c10 pro at 11 o'clock (OK, I lost my temper during a match and smashed it). I don't want to play with it any longer because I suspect that it will break at the crack during the next string job. I will order a c10 pro but mine was the European (old) version, and I remember reading here that there is a difference in feel between the old and the new versions. Does anybody here have experience with both versions that he/she would want to share?

Thanks

Fatih,

I have two versions of the C10 Pro MP. the latest, or last version, and a previous version with the fishbones painted on the inner hoop area. I prefer the previous version as it feels a bit more flexible. The most recent version is stiffer, but provides a bit more pop. You can still find some of the newer one retail, but you may have to shop through this message board or **** to find the older model.

Hopes this helps......

Thanks for the reply Ed. If they are different in feel, I think I might try the new Tour 10 MP Gen II.

Tour 10 MP

Hello Fatih,

At the time I started using Volkl, I was torn between the C10 and the Tour 10. I chose the C10 because it is slightly more head light. I usually put lead weights at the 3 and 9 'clock positions to add some stability to the racquet. Unfortunately, this also makes the racquet a bit more head heavy. Also, the Tour 10 is supposed to be a bit stiffer in the hoop area. Since I have had problems with my elbow and shoulder, I thought the C10 would be the better of the two racquets for me.

Good luck.

Hi Ed,

Thank you very much for your comments. I was wondering how much lead you use at 3&9 o'clock on the c10 and also if you counter those weights.

Cheers,
Fatih

Sorry Ed,

You obviously do not counter the weight. This reduces my question to how much lead at 3&9?

Thanks,
Fatih

C10- Pro

Hi Fatih,

I use Gamma lead weights which adds 3 grams at each 3 and 9'oclock positions. Also, I add a few layers of Babolat head tape which protects the head (grommets for this racquet don't protect the outer edges of the frame very well) and adds a few grams. As a result, the racquet weights 12.5 oz HL at about 5 pts.

On a different subject matter, I have noticed that the type of string and string tension make a big difference. I usually use Tecnifibre NRG2-17 strung at 54 lbs resulting in a nice soft feeling. I bought a used C10 strung with Luxilon BB Alu strung at 57 lbs, and it felt like I was hitting witha 2x4, lots of punch, but less feel. In this case, I really believe the difference was in the string, not the tension. The only problems associated with NRG2 in my experience are quick loss in tension as well as early fraying.
