I just watched a woman throw out an old Pro Staff!

That's a shame, and you should take the racquet out from the bin, and give her the second life she deserves

But without valiant efforts like hers, mass-produced items composed of non-biodegradable materials would take much too long to become "rare and valuable", and there would have been less tangible distinction between history-preserving 'collecting' and pathological 'hoarding'. :sneaky:

Honestly, every time I drop off some garbage at my local transfer station, I am always amazed by what constitutes 'trash' for some of my neighbors, and can't help but to feel bad for the people who designed and manufactured some of these items. Then again, I am still using the same towels I used in high school forty years ago, so my perspective may be quite a few SD away from the mean on this topic.

@Sanglier my thing is, why not see if there's a local program for underprivileged kids who want to bring back S&V tennis? Or even just Goodwill? I guess that requires a bit more effort, and it's easiest just to dump stuff.

Underprivileged kids who want to bring back S&V tennis? In what galaxy? What else? Underprivileged kids who want to bring back steam locomotives? Goodwill no longer want old stuff, they straight up ask for cash these days.

Really? Not only does every kid I encounter love tennis more than any other sport, but they also idolize Johny Mac.

Whatever planet you're on, I am sure beer is plenty and court times are free.

I'm one of those S&V kids (well I was, I am now a S&V twenty-something) who used racquets that weren't what people saw as "conventional" (i.e. anything 98 sq. in or bigger)
