I think Almagro can be great coach in the future.

During a recent press conference in Paris, Danielle confirmed that starting a coaching partnership with Nicolas Almagro was just great. The Spaniard retired from tennis in April 2019 and apparently he was eager to get back to his beloved sport in a different role. Collins revealed that she was lucky that Serena Williams’ coach Patrick Mouratoglou contacted Almagro when she expressed the desire to be in touch with a person who had experience playing at the very top. Nico retired with 13 titles and he also managed to break into the top10 back in 2011, and he was therefore a great candidate.

“We had reached out, my team had reached out to Patrick Mouratoglou, and he set us up with Nico .It’s been awesome. I think this might be the first time I have worked with a coach that has been a top-10 player. I think that’s a really important thing because he knows what it takes to be at that level.” said Collins.

I really liked him as a player. But I guess he might be also good coach.

Almagro without nerves would have won at least 1 RG (2010 comes to mind). His technique was good, so he could definitely become a good coach, but not for someone who needs to work on his nerves!

In 2010 he pushed Nadal to two tiebreaks, which is the best anyone did that year. With a functioning brain, Almagro would have had a chance to beat him. A meltdown-less Almagro is would have been pretty dangerous idea, but I guess one could say that about a lot of players.
