Can you please take a look at the pics and tell me if I got taken on a new racket purchase? I bought from a reputable **** dealer and planned on sanding it down and clear coating the graphite. Only problem is that there was no graphite.... After sanding through the outer layer of paint I hit the core. It looks like a composite of some sort, almost like wood. The racket is also considerably lighter than advertised: 8.5 oz for the bare racket and 9.8 oz with the grommets and leather grip (no strings). It came strung with some super crappy strings and by hand the tension did not feel very uniform across the racket face. The factory paint also seems very poor and uneven in places.

Thanks for any insight:

I sanded it down because I KNEW it was a fake. I'm coming on here to ask for confirmation from people who know what they're talking about. Thanks Pal...

Your story is not exactly straight.

You ask if you have gotten taken, bought a fake, then you state you bought it to sand down. You then post that you knew it was a fake and that is why you sanded it down. I'm not accusing you of anything, however, it just seems odd that your story is a little off.

Or are you just questioning if you got taken on buying a fake on purpose thinking it would be pretty graphite. . .

k90's have braided graphite covering just about the entirety of the frame, except for the bridge and the base of the throat.
it's a fake, unless you were sanding the racquet blind folded and penetrated through the braiding completely. :)

True :)

I bought it with plans on sanding it down to the graphite and clear coating, as I saw another member on here did.

It came strung so I thought, hey, maybe I'll hit with it a few times to make sure I like it before spending 5 hours sanding it, etc. I went to throw a new grip on it and saw the chinese markings and was like WTF?

I think the weight difference automatically tells you that this racquet is fake. Unless it's a defect from Wilson, the variance between the weight of the real racquet and your racquet shouldn't be that large (12.5oz - 9.8 oz = 2.7 oz)

It really doesn't matter now thats its fake because you can't return it. I think it's fake because every K90 I have seen or had has a polyurethane handle without the Chinese lettering. So not only is it fake but you made the remarkably obtuse decision of sanding it down, reassuring that you cant return it for a refund.

Actually you can still reject it as "significantly not as described" and assert your legal rights for a what you paid for ie a new K90 or the recommended retail price. The fake frame belongs to the rights holder, Amersports, and certainly should not be returned to the seller. So if you can be bothered to start a small claims court action, you will be no worse off. The only loser is the seller of the fake item. You don't even need to prove the racke is fake, as it is a civil action, not criminal, so you just need to show in the balance of probabilities that it is fake. The fact the seller is not an authorised dealer and the low price is sufficient, even without all the problems with the frame.

Not obtuse at all really.
