If Roger Federer is to win another Grand Slam, where do you want it to be?

Where?

Not where you think Federer will win another Grand Slam but where you want Federer to win another Grand Slam?

I'm not sure why but the AO would be really cool. Or else the RG, just to win that one more time. Don't know why I'm leaning towards the AO. Maybe it's because I've been watching that video of him crying at AO09 a lot lately.

Dont worry about oz 09 he put that to be by lifting the trophy next year.

He has had 3 close defeats at the us in 09,10 and 11, it would take a victory to really put them to bed.

Federer winning an 8th Wimbledon a month shy of his 33rd birthday that really would.be the stuff of legend.

Obviously I'm a Nadal fan so this would kill me, and I guess I'm not really answering the question because this is exactly what I DON'T want to happen...but in terms of pure value to his legacy, I think the best possible scenario for his last slam would be to beat Rafa in a Roland Garros final. I think that would be a perfect way to end Fed's career.

Where else but The Cathedral of Tennis. To come full circle and end it with a final win on it's hallowed lawns would be MAJESTIC!

I would like it to be the French Open by beating Nadal in the final. Even though I am a Nadal fan that would complete Federer's career more than any other result by far.

That'll happen when pigs learn to fly at warp speed. LOL.
But beating Rafa at another Wimbledon is a reasonable, albeit unlikely possibility.

Considering what is realistic probably another Wimbledon. It would give him grass GOAT status over Sampras, and it would give him a slam he holds the record alone which he doesnt have yet. I dont think Federer is ever winning another slam, but this atleast has a 15% shot of happening.

He will win another French Open, let alone over Nadal in the final when purple pigs fly in the sky. I agree it would be best for his legacy but it is akin to Navratilova coming out of retirement and winning Wimbledon singles in her 50s.

I think if he wins the FO that would be the best for him, specially if he can beat Rafa there
the only slam he won only once

she has a good shot at that with the current awful field.

Roger is going to win 1 more of each. Winning 1 more at AO, Wimb, USO would put him as the sole topper at each of these. Winning a 2nd FO would elevate him among all time top clay court players. Needless to say at 21 majors, the record would not be broken for another 2-3 decades.

Why are people voting Wimby? He's got 7 of those and is arguably the GOAT at Wimbledon!

The French would be the most amazing title to win, he would have multiple titles at all slams and after all the hardship he's faced there, it would be even more dramatic to win the title again. Also, considering all the ridiculous records he has, it seems almost like a hole in his resume that he "only" has 1 french

Probably since the French is too unrealistic and insanely crazy at this point to even consider. Arguably Wimbledon is the only one that doesnt totally enter the "crazy" area at this point, so based on that it is getting the most votes.

Anyway Federer isnt the clear Grass GOAT at this point. Many would still argue for Sampras, Laver, or even Tilden. You said "arguable" for a reason. Another title there would make it a slam dunk so it makes sense a Federer fan would root for that.

His being a top tier clay GOAT is never going to happen, that ship sailed long long ago.

Federer is open era CLAY top 10 officially by ESPN, tennis channel, etc.,

Federer does not need to do anything more than anyone at Wimbledon. He won in a more tougher era, has one more final and has a positive h2h versus Sampras there.

Tougher era. You mean the era where Nadal who you Fed fanboys diss as a mediocre grass courter who fluked his way to 2 Wimbledons is by FAR the 2nd best grass courter of this era and by far Federer's toughest rival of this era on grass. Good one.

Top 10 in just the Open Era on clay is not a first tier all time great on the surface. That is unless you are conceding Nadal is easily a first tier all time great on all surfaces too.

Like it or not, Fed is regarded as OPEN era clay top tier. 5 finals is not easy to come by. Just think if that guy called Nadal was not there, Federer would have 5 plus on all 4 majors.

There is no way to objectively make you agree on the quality of era, however you cannot dispute the fact about the extra final and the win over Sampras.

I'd say Nadal is a first tier all time great on all surfaces. And I'm not a Nadal fan nor a Fed one. Just not a hater of either. They are both great, the two outstanding players of this generation (with Djoko threatening to crash the party although it looks unlikely now that he will fully) and both are in the goat equation. The only two others in the open era at least are Sampras and Borg but I consider both to have surpassed them.

Tier 1: Fed, Nadal, Sampras and Borg (not in any particular order within them)
Tier 2: Agassi, Lendl, Mac and Connors
Tier 3: Djokovic, Becker, Edberg, Wilander

I think Djokovic will become at least a top tier 2 with an outside chance of a tier 1. If Murray can get back to some form after his back injury and win at least 3 more slams I'd have him in tier 3.

As for Fed's legacy, two things:

1.any slam will do
2. beating Nadal at any slam - sadly won't happen - not particularly a Fed fan as actually wanted Nadal to win wimb 2008 but since then given his loses it would be nice if he could rise up one last time.

Senior Tour Slam.
He has no chance on the ATP tour...ever again. And I was the one to say that we should never write him off. However, too late now. He is not even in the same class with the top 3 plus a few others...any more

Win another Wimbledon and he's definitely the GOAT there. That'll rank him the sole #1 in history.
Win another French open and, well, so now he's got two instead of one, which ranks him what in FO history?

Technically, Federer is standing on all kind of records in each slams. If he wins any of Wimbledon/US/AO, he will be the sole record holder in that slam.Additionally, If he wins US, he will have won 2 slams at least 6 times. If he does in AO, he'll win 3 slams 5 times or more. Now, If he wins FO then he will have won all the slams twice or more.

But personally, I'd like it to be the Wimbledon, it will be fitting to his legacy, assuming that it will be his last slam.
