As far as traditions go, the Dartmouth First Year Trip is pretty much ingrained in stone. Essentially, most (95%) freshmen entering Dartmouth College spend a few days out in the wilderness with a few fellow freshmen and an upperclassman. Well, I'm slated to go a camping tomorrow. I fly up from Phili and will spend 9/3 through 9/7 in the wilderness. Fun, eh?

Only problem is that there's this category 4 hurricane called Earl racing up the Eastern seaboard. I'm desperately hoping it doesn't affect my flight tomorrow morning, since I kind of NEED to get to campus by 4 pm. Another problem is Hurricane Earl will be hitting the White Mountains where I'll be camping Friday and Saturday, just in time for me to get soaked! Woot! Either this is going to be the greatest bonding experience ever, the most epic, or the most wet. How much better does it get than to be camping in the middle of a hurricane?

Could turn into a huge wet T-shirt contest.

Find a friend, snuggle close, stay warm, and have fun.

Bring an expedition-quality tent that can withstand high winds. It will also be waterproof. Bring a nice waterproof/Gore-tex jacket, hat and boots. Bring a deck of cards, a couple flasks of good Kentucky bourbon and 'box-o-wine'...you know, the cheap stuff like Franzia-it packs easily. Even if confined to your tent, you'll have a good time hanging out and meeting new people. Be "glass half full"...and what r2 said! :)

So epic!!! We didn't really get hit by the hurricane, but the weather still was a little fickle.

BUT SO MUCH FUN!!! You have no IDEA how pumped I am for Dartmouth to start now!
