As an animal lover living in a metropolitan area for a decade, I'm starting to not care for dogs in general.

The problem of the loud obnoxious dog. Every street. Every backyard. You go out at night and instead of birds chirping, wind blowing through, all you get is this diaspora of near endless noise pollution. And there is nobody to stop it. If you bring it up to these women owners they look at YOU like you are a deviant of some kind. Like, what kind of monster doesn't like dogs, when they know good and well that they can't control these beasts and use them as a sort of nuisance assault on all those within earshot.

Not sure how to feel about this. I know it will be unpopular. I grew up with many great dogs of all different breeds. Big dogs. Small dogs.

Ive lived in this neighborhood I'm at for about five years now. Very peaceful neighborhood with low crime. So really there isn't much use for a loud barking ass dog. But almost every new move in in the past 3 years has had AT LEAST one annoying loud dog.

Ironically the one time I have been victimized in this neighborhood I had my workvan broken into. Glass shattering. Many windows broken. Guess what? No barking. Just silent as all get out. So they aren't preventing anything. They only exist to frustrate and intimidate neighbors. For reasons I don't have the time or patience to go into.

And these tiny frail women get these big hulking monsters and can't even take them on walks due to the sheer strength imbalance. So what you end up with is a frustrated dog with a ton of energy and no outlet.

It should be a form of assaul letting your dog aggressively bark bark bark. And they're like "no, here give them this treat, or just learn their name, or this or that..." It's like, dummy, you brought this damn noise pollutant into this situation of limited space. Why the hell am I the one adjusting.

Just get some cats and be quiet

Here's another anecdote. You talk to these owners about their little fur baby not being able to shut the hell up and they turn on the gaslight. "Well, my little doggo never barks at people, so what is it about YOU that makes MY dog bark?" Then you watch as it runs the fence line seemingly trying to get to a mother walking a baby in a stroller on the sidewalk.

While I love animals, I am not too fanciful about strays. Stray dogs are a huge menace. They are usually aggressive especially towards little children. Small babies are mauled to death.
Recently a millionaire businessman in India was chased by strays when he went for an evening walk. He fell, suffered a head injury and died.

As usual it's not about the dog, it's about irresponsible dog ownership. We have always had watchdogs that we encouraged to bark at folks coming onto the property. But, they're inside dogs and respond to direction and can't really be heard next door.

I see no lies lol. I really don't know how people like dogs so much. Get your animal away from me and tell him to shut up PLEASE with all that damn barking :-D

People are goofy about dogs. I like when people get upset that my bar isn’t “dog friendly.” Sorry, I don’t want animal dander in a public place of consumption. As a member of the hospitality industry, people trying to bring in dogs is near the top of conflict starters.

agreed.
i'm a large breed dog owner and spent hundreds of hours training my dog during it's first year...
most folks do not do any training (other than potty).
