Info. on prince graphite 90

Please don't direct me to the search function - there are literally millions of threads on 'POG' on these boards. What I'm interested in knowing is how the graphite 90 compares with the modern POG tour. The graphite 90 has the same feel as the old head graphite edge and volleys perfectly. Once I got over my prince gripshape bias, I found my groundstrokes were very loopy and spinny (which is how I'm trying to play these days).

p.s. And also if anyone would like to sell me their graphite 90 ;)

graphite 90 has more plough thru than the ps 85. It is a true 90 and not a 93. Also according to the person who laid the graphite in them for 15 years the graphite on the series 90 "midplus" as well as the one stripe was "dark, thick, coarse, horsetail like 3-4 foot strands", unlike the left over "graphite" used in the tour: "light colored", small strands, smooth."
I have one 90 left if anyone has an 85 for trade...90 is the caddy of mids, the four stripe and one stripe were some of the best pro player racquets ever!!!

Thanks plasma. I got your email too. Let's work out a deal here. Also, what do you mean by 'left over graphite'?

I'd assume the "leftovers" are just that.

The POGs and other classics aren't their main sellers anymore. What's remaining after their current production needs goes into making their "other" frames.

I like the description of the graphite strands being like horsehair and newer graphite being smooth. Probably a consequence of the current materials. I bet the newer smoother shorter strands are easier to work with, but that does change the playing characteristics of the frame.

Probably the difference in the elusive feel between say a St. Vincent Wilson Pro Staff midsize and its recent Chinese 6.0 85 descendent.

Having gotten out some frames recently even the feel of my Wilson Ultra has that harshness that feels so good with the old braided graphite. Couple that with a tight compact head and you've got one sweet hit.

there used to be a thread about the tw staff going to a boat salvage in Florida to find enough boat fiberglass to make a special soft racquet. They only found enough for 800 frames, and even finding that was a serious task...
did you think graphite grew on trees????
if that was the case the racquets with modern specs would blow away vintage stuff. Vintage frames are made of a type of graphite no longer found. I got this from speaking in person with top manufacturers and technicians, guys who have done this since childhood and are now elderly. I don't reveal who I know on these boards but what I say is true, it has been confirmed by technicians and racquet builders with seven decades of experience, from several companies.
That's what I mean by "Left over graphite"....
wish I could say from what company, one of the top 3 (P,W,H)
said to me personally "GRaphite like that doesn't exist anymore!".
Confirmed by a famous racquet builder I know who has built for several W champions, again no one I discuss on these boards by name, but friends who have my number on these boards know who I mean...not hard to guess.
