Prince Graphite II midplus versus 4 stripe POG

Hi all
Can't find much info on the attributes of the Prince Graphite II midplus versus the 4 stripe POG 90. Anyone know the specs of the Graphite II, and how it plays compared with the POG? I know it has a 14 x 18 pattern, and is 97 sq ins. What year did the Graphite II MP come out?
Thanks

Thanks.
I just picked up a 4 stripe POG, and my 12 year old has been using it. His game has gone through the roof, and he has tried Babolats,Wilson K pro Tours, Fischer Mag Tours, Prince O3 whites,BB London all used to belong to his older brother. He absolutely loves the 4 stripes, but they are hard to find in Australia. He has never felt that way about any other racquet, which intrigues me. Wondering if the Graphite II midpluses are close enough to the POG 4 stripes? Guess I may just have to buy them. Thanks again for your help.

Thanks, in what way are they different? I am also considering the current POG(tour) 93, that TW is selling. I have read they are similar, but not identical, to the 4 stripes.

the graphite ii has less feel. the wider beam give is less feel and increases stiffness.

the current POG is closer to the 4 stripe than the graphite ii, but it also has less feel (muted), but seems more powerful.

Thanks a lot.

sure thing. the graphite 2 has far less of the "classic" graphite racquet traits (control, feel and touch) and has more of the traits of newer racquets (higher stiffness and more power)

the POG tour while it doesn't feel exactly like the 4 striper, it still has more similarities than differences given that it's from the same line.

Don't know how hard they are to demo in Oz, but some of the stiffer models among new Donnays have characteristics in common with the the 4-stripe Mids: head size (94 vs 93), thin beam, a particular feel that comes from a foam core (which the current version of the Graphite does not have). I can't comment on similarity of feel, though; haven't had the pleasure of a hit with them.

People use similar terms, mostly variations on "solid", when describing the feel of the 4-stripes and that of the Vantage frames – which are foam-filled, fairly thin-beamed (not exactly box beams, though) and available in an unstrung stiffness of 70, similar to that of the Graphite Mid.

Otherwise, you can haunt the auctions, as I have, for 4-stripes and 1-stripes (the 4-stripe's closest relative, IMO). They turn up from time to time.

Yes they do differ a lot the 4 strip vs. the mark 2.
But just even more 'confusing ' is the one i have its not the 'Tour' not the 4-stripe but one that doesnt say 'Tour' and has a matte finish to it. Anyone got the lowdown / know the specs and year produced of this one ?

i believe you have a Triple Threat Graphite that followed the Graphite II.

I picked up a Graphite II Oversize at the thrift store for $4. It cleaned up ok.

I looked through my old Tennis mags and saw it in the 1992 racquet issue. The MP and OS were supposed to be "updates" to the POG. They were listed as having graphite and fiberglass construction.

I also posted on here that I got a couple of Prince Precision 630s at the thrift store another time.....the Longbody version of the Graphite II MP. I bought replacement plastic parts listed as Precision 630. I should have used my brain and gotten the Graphite II MP plastic parts that were listed at a lower price.... :( - oh just checked. It's only for the bumperguards.

I should do them up Albert Costa style!

Nope, i know that its not for i had the TT graphite mid and mp and they arent like this POG mid. It says 'Straight Shaft' on it if that can be of any help in order to determine what edition it is ..

ok. sounds it's the POG Straight Shaft that was came after the 4 stripe version (late '90s i believe) and before the Tour edition. i've seen the straight shaft version, but not in a matte finish.

not even close, POG mid blows the II away.

The green paint job on the II is gorgeous tho.....

I've been a POG fan for a long time, so when I saw my friend's Graphite II for sale years ago, I had to buy it. That metallic green paint job was so beautiful, and it had that midplus head size. But, yeah, it didn't have the control or comfort of the POG. Sniff.....

due to the additional power from the wider beam, you have to string up the graphite II higher in tension to get the same control, but doing that further compromises the comfort. if you string it lower for softer response, you lose control so it's a catch 22. but, yeah, the paint job is real purty. :)
