Inquiry: Wilson Super Tour 3 InfraRED 15 Pack Bag

Hi TW,

1) Is the bag that the Wilson touring pros will be using?
2) Does it have a somewhat rigid outer construction as many of the previous Wilson Tour Bags have?
3) Does the zipper hardhard, as opposed to the zipper pull itself, look like it would be able to support a luggage lock?

Hi John,

I will try my best to answer your questions -- I'm not 100% sure if the Wilson players will be carrying this bag, I would assume so, yes.

It does not really have a rigid outer construction. The material holds shape well, but it doesn't have that "molded" shape or "shell" construction like other bags. It is a matte-coated PU material.

I'm not sure what your 3rd question means exactly. I'm not sure it would be able to support a luggage lock.

Thanks for your reply, I much appreciate it! I think I’ll likely be giving this bag a try.

As for the zipper, on a previous bag, I had the zippers themselves replaced, so that the opening on the zipper itself (as opposed to the zipper pull if that might make sense) could support the luggage locks for the times that I needed them. That might end up being the case here as well.

If possible, one topic I'd be interested in seeing is on the bag it seems that the grab handle, which is usually located on the side of a bag, is underneath the bag if seated down horizontally. If you could give your insight if that is a pro, con or neither, that would be ideal.

Hi John,

Hoping to have the video on this shoe up and edited next week, but let me try and answer your question. There are the elongated grab handles on top, then the bottom of the bag has the backpack straps and a grab handle. Now, if you aren't interested in using the backpack straps, there is a sleeve that has some velcro (the black back panel) and you can unclip the backpack straps and stick them in the sleeve, so they are essentially out of sight and out of mind. The grab handle seems to be easily used and accessed. I didn't have any issues or notice it to be at all hard to access.

That said, I would be wanting to use the backpack straps when carrying the bag. My question, which I don’t think I am doing a stellar job of explaining, related to when I have the bag down flat when playing. I’d typically use that grab handle on the side of the bag to transition that bag north/south in a standing position so that the backpack straps are accessible.

All in all, I think it will likely be a case where I’ll have to see and use the bag in person to see if it works for my specific use case.

Many thanks! I see what you mean on the back pack straps being able to be tucked away. I think for many that will be a nice feature.

My current bag of choice is the Wilson Tour Molded 2.0 Red 15 Pack Bag, so I'll have to compare to this model, and see which works best for me.

1) On the Wilson Tennis link… https://www.wilson.com/en-us/tennis/bags/tour/super-tour-3-tennis-bag... it lists it as having 2 (standard) Thermoguard compartments.

2) However, on the Wilson Tennis YouTube overview…

…it lists that the insulation is actually Thermoguard 2.0 (meaning Version 2.0 as opposed to 2 meaning the quantity of lined pockets).

Based on that, I wanted to get your insight on what the accurate product specifics are.

I ask, as my current bag is the Wilson Pro Tour Molded 2.0, from 2015, and that came with a Desiccant box. Being that there are no such boxes with the new bag I am wondering if, as listed on most web sites, the Super Tour 3 Compartment Tennis Bag has the standard Thermoguard, and not the updated V2.

Sorry, I was out of town last week.

Wilson will know better than me, but correct, there is no desiccant box in this updated bag -- I am not 100% sure if that is the only thing that differentiates version 1 of Thermogaurd from version 2, but I would assume the thermal compartments are just as efficient and effective with this round of bags.

I got two answers, each conflicting, from Wilson. I think I’ll reach out to them, next time by phone, and see if I can get a definitive answer. If you might hear any added insight, feel free to post it here.

On a related note, I am leaning towards keeping the new bag. In summary, to me, its smaller profile for a 15 pack is very convenient.
