Is Djokovic guaranteed Year end no.1?

I read on another thread that Djokovic needs to win two matches in order to secure YE no.1, and he just did. Does that mean it’s secured?

If Nadal doesnt take WC for ATP 250 tournament in Sofia after Paris masters, then yes. Of course, Nadal will not play there, so its basically done deal, but its still not official.

It's secure unless Rafa wins Paris and the YEC (undefeated) and also enters a 250 (Sofia) and wins it....and then Novak may just have to win a match or two at either Vienna or the YEC. Something like that,

I don't think Rafa will kill himself (enter Sofia) on the very off-chance of taking #1, but I'm sure he'd like to finish #2, ahead of Thiem.

Realistically yes. Nadal has a mathematical chance though. I believe Nadal has to accept a wild card into Sophia, win that, and sweep Paris and the YEC.

Highly unlikely scenario for Nadal.

If Djokovic wins Vienna, he is officially year-end number 1

Tell that to the ATP officials who are engraving his 6 YE#1 in the history books as we speak. ;)

It doesn't matter to me. It's a short season due to the pandemic, too many quality players decided to stay home for safety thus having a depleted draw, and tennis in the bubble with no live audience.

The year end #1 means diddly-squat. Nobody care.

Can you name those "too many players"?

Well you did have the #1 women's player in the world and defending champion in Ashley Barty deciding to skip FO! She still winds up being Year End #1 without playing since early this year! What a joke! Oh well, we'll see how they handle this next season! :cautious:
