Is Lleyton Hewitt alright?

I've been surprised by his demeanour and state of mind when watching him on the sidelines as Davis cup coach. He barely seems interested, there's none of his famous passion, he doesn't seem engaged at all. He doesn't really seem to be giving much advice at the changeovers and the player doesn't seem to be listening to him anyway. I wouldn't be surprised if something comes out about him suffering depression or something. Has anyone else noticed this?

The lawnmower probably just needs a tuneup.

Seriously, the guy had a great playing career, has been married for nearly 20 years, has three kids and properties all over the world. Such a tough life, it’s no wonder he occasionally exhibits “signs” of depression.

smh

Money can't buy happiness. Only a better form of unhappiness.

Terrible take on a working relationship. I would be depressed if I had your pessimism about the potential rewards of loving the partner you take in sickness and in health.

smh

It's not the real Davis Cup anymore.

However, he was a lot more interesting to watch than current players. It's just a shame how desperately miserable he's become.

I think his passion is probably more directed towards helping his son, not taking anything away from his dedication to TA commitments.
I think the way Davis Cup has been changed ( butchered) to its current iteration has devalued its prestige and validity and Davis Cup has always held a special part of Australian tennis culture and indeed a wider Australian sporting culture. Therefore I can understand many people being disenchanted with the current format.
