Was watching Gimelstob's last match against Roddick at the USO in '07. He lost in straights, and though he never was in a winning position, he did keep the score respectable, 7-6, 6-3, 6-3. Reminded me a lot of Roddick's match against Fed at USO a few rounds later, which Fed won 7-6, 7-6, 6-2. Got me thinking...is Roddick to Federer as Gimelstob to Roddick?
Career Highlights:
Gimelstob
-Highest rank World no. 63
-Wins over Agassi, Kuerten, Rafter, Korda
-13 doubles titles (0 Singles)
-6'5
Roddick:
-Highest rank: World no. 1
-YE #1 2003
-Won the U.S. Open
-6th fastest recorded serve in ATP history
-Made 3 Wimbledon finals and a US Open final
-32 ATP Singles titles
Federer:
Too many to list
-20 majors
-310 weeks at #1
-Pretty backhand
-237 consecutive weeks at #1
-23 straight semi-finals
-8 Wimbledon titles and 4 finals
So...is the difference between Federer and Roddick as vast as the difference between Roddick and Gimelstob?
