Is the new 2018 RF97A Black and white, less popular then the 2016 Black RF97A? $179 vs $249 at TW.

Personally I have yet to pick (from US) my 2018 RF97A that I've ordered last fall. I use 2 x 2016 RF97A.

Federer claims the paint played differently, but he's adjusted but didn't really because he went back to the all black for the rest of the year. I remember someone posted an interview in German, where he said just that in June 2018.

There's the red, the black, and the white. Basically in the past year or two, I've only seen people play and buy the black one. If I was in the market, I would not care about the color... it would be kinda cool not to have it in the color RF himself plays. Or then, I guess you could scrape the white off.

The red one was a Laver Cup overpriced special racquet.

They probably do differ if Roger went back to the black one, although the specs seem identical.
Have yet to try my black and white one, will pick it up in a couple of months.

I remember reading that the Laver Cup one did not come with a leather grip. The racquet might be the same but the weight / SW would be different.

I am certain Wilson was not pleased when Federer dumped the B/W racket. But somehow he was more comfortable with the black. Psychology, the look, or perhaps different paints making the rackets play slightly different.

I'm surprised that other pros have no issues when they get paintjob updates to match the retail frames.
