is there a max tension difference between mains and crosses?

Reading alot on hybrid setup, still trying to perfect my combination. I'm still playing with my IGPMP, recommended tension between 48-57 lbs. Going for nat.gut/poly hybrid, next setup will be vs touch 16g and Kirschbaum PL2. I know poly's should be strung with less tension, but is there a maximal tension difference between the mains and crosses? Is 52/48 acceptable? So far I've notice alot of people stringing 2 lbs difference only, but then I read that poly's should be strung 10% lower than your usual preference (thus 4 or 5 lbs ).

thanks for your input and helping me out

For gut / poly hybrid go down 2 lbs from your full gut reference then 4 lbs down from that for the poly crosses . For example I use youtek speed pro 18x20 and I have a 57 lbs full syngut reference tension . My hybrid for kirschbaum regular synthetic gut 1.20/ kirschbaum proline ii 1.15 is 55/51lbs .

And I have been playing all doubles and some singles . Total time so far is around 10 hrs . Going to try for over 12 hrs and more then restring as needed .

It's your frame and the stringer should do what you ask. The only thing they may not warranty is same frame length before and after; and if the frame cracks during stringing or play for big differences. Most times a 3-5# difference between mains and crosses will not affect frame length. I will normally come out < 2mm difference if that much. If you ask for a 7-10# difference, that's your decision so long as you are aware of what the risks are. If you are significantly below the frames' recommended tension, then there really is no risk of frame cracking. But the length could change by 3-5mm easily. 3 cents.

FWIW, frames are more robust than you think and they can easily handle 10-15# differences.
