Just noticed...

... how similar the LM radical and MG prestige mid+ specs compare. Everything is identical between the racquets except for weight (17g) and balance (2 pts).

I'm considering updating to something with a bit more weight, can anyone provide thoughts or past experience in switching from radical to prestige.

I actually switched from the MG Prestige to the LM Radical. I bought the MG prestige after demoing all the new MG frames at a local shop that did not carry the LM Radical. I really liked the Prestige and still hit with it once or twice a week but after giving the LM Radical a shot on a whim I was sold, it just fits my game perfectly. The MG Prestige is good but IMO you are spending a lot more for what you could accomplish with a little lead tape on the LM Radical

I don't know. It's not just the 17g. I know what you mean and what you are trying and I've spent many years with teh LM Rad (not the China one), and all I can say is that the Prestige really is very different and hits so differently. You'd really want to be sure b4 going down the Prestige route.

Have you tried a Rad Pro. That adds the weight. You do have to adjust your grip (more western) and your play style a little (less flat, more spin), however the Rad Pro really does add some oomph.

The Rad and Pres lines just do not match up in my experience. Up to you but...

I always like the lm radical and I would've got one instead of the flexpoint at the time if i could. I didn't like any of the microgel radicals or prestiges though for some reason. Did anyone else notice how TW says the mg radical mp is for 4.5+ players yet the prestige is for 4.0+? I always thought the prestige was more of an advanced players racquet than the radical. It's heavier and less powerful than the radical imo.

What kind of game do you have?

I am mostly a baseliner and I like to take a big cut at the ball. I like the Radical because it has good plow through for a frame that is not on the really heavy side so I can still generate a lot of racquet head speed easily to get the spin I want on the ball and be able to place my shots where I want them. I also do like the feel at the net when I am up there.

I haven't played with the liquidmetal radical, but have played with the microgel prestige and I would say get the radical and add a leather grip + overgrip and it should be just about the same weight + balance as the prestige, but with more power.

The microgel prestige is powerless and I love power. The radical is nice but it needs to be hit flat to get depth, still very nice frame.
