Just Wanna Brag Some

Have always lacked some confidence in my singles game as all through high school and the little college ball I played doubles was my focus.

Made a singles line senior year hs and only did so so. Picked tennis up last year after 6 years off and was almost exclusively playing doubles due to where I was located.

Started adding a little more singles in with 3.5-4.0 guys, especially once COVID changed court rules and got a little confidence, but rarely won any close matches.

But once I moved up to Boston I joined a 3.5 flex league. Lost 2 of my first 3 matches and almost threw away a match I had no right losing in the middle. Was afraid I had just got in the habit of losing. That fear lit a fire under me and now I'm first place in the league with just this weekend till post season; record is 7-2. Have 2 more matches lined up before the season ends to solidify my first seed (the people who responded to my invite Im confident against).

Just wanted to brag about the progress and celebrate the good times before I move up to 3.75 next season prolly :):)

Sounds like you toughened up mentally, which is super important: I mean, no matter how good your strokes are, it won't matter if you crumble psychologically.

Well done!

Yeah mental growth was about ⅓ the battle in the end.

Adjusting to singles points and positioning was the larger hill to climb. But I was standing at that cliffs edge of losing the little confidence I had before I turned it around.

Welcome to MA :)

Thanks!
