Djokovic is representing the players below 50 ranking and they all want to dispose Chris Kermode. The tournaments representatives in the council wants him to stay. Allegedly the Americans are supporting Djokovic. You can get a sniff of it in the tennis podcast: https://play.acast.com/s/thetennispodcast
It is mentioned in the last podcast at the end and in the episodes around Australian Open.

Djokovic is rumored to be behind this. The rest players aren't on board, but it's hard to get everyone together and organize against.

Fed and Nadal have stepped back from ATP matters and Djoker appears the most involved with the Board. 8-B

Djoker using his Pepe guru skills. (y)

Fed and Nadal have stepped back from ATP matters and Djoker appears the most involved with the Board. Once Djoker didn’t want C.K. his days were numbered. All the players are equal but some are more equal than others especially the number one player who’s into ATP Governance. 8-B

Djoker using his Pepe guru skills. (y)

In that case, maybe Djokovic should take over the ATP?

Djoker is running rings around everyone on and off the court. Bonus points awarded toward GOAT race.

Nadal quit the players council when nobody else wanted his 2 year ranking scheme. Fedr was the first top player in a while to be involved, he stepped down to let the next generation take charge. Now that Djokovic is making a mess of things, maybe it's time to make a change.

They didn’t carry on like nothing happened. They made a decision to keep him for the time being and to show Kermode the door.

Maybe Aussie guy can invent some more charges and make a stronger case that what they did was “insane.”

lol what? I don't think they invented anything, he was facing charges with assault and iirc his ex did file a restraining order, he's always come across as shady to me, but w/e.

“They” didn’t — Aussie guy did.

The charge in lay terms was beating up a former friend during a street altercation.

Aussie decided to change it to beating up a family member/someone you have an intimate relationship with.

This was absolute garbage, used as a clickbait by British media, as many times before. Also, they constantly run their dirty little mind war on Djokovic.

For someone who couldn’t even google about this earlier and said it was made up, you sure seem to be an expert now. Pretty pathetic the way you’re going about defending this.

I didn’t need to google it — as you know because you participated in the early JG case related threads.

Correcting your (I now suspect intentional) “mistake” is not defending him.

Poor Djokovic, it seems like a feller can't even orchestrate a palace coup for the benefit of his assaulting buddy without the evil media making a stink.

Seeing his strong stand, I think Djokovic may having a broad support from players below top rankings, especially on prize money.

Interesting that literally all the Tweets around have been negative about the news and in support of Chris. Apart from the one vid from Novak, nobody has spoken up at all about voting Chris out.

Pepe must replace Kermode and spreads love to the entire tennis planet. Everybody will feel the love and be paid millions of dollars for participating in any ATP tournaments. Everybody on earth will want to participate in ATP tournaments and everybody is paid millions and get the feeling of being Tomic.

INDIAN WELLS, Calif. – By having his media availability on Thursday, world No. 1 and ATP Tour Player Council president Novak Djokovic all but assured the main topic of conversation. There was no doubt most of the journalists’ questions to him would concern the future direction of the ATP Tour (Oh, there was one about golf, too). After a six-hour Player Council meeting Tuesday night, the ATP Tour board of directors met Thursday morning, The board was to vote on whether ATP CEO Chris Kermode would be renewed for a third term, or out at the end of 2019. As we wrote Wednesday night, it appeared that the Brit was going to be out because he needed the majority of the three votes on the players’ side. And it was unlikely he was going to get them.

There were rumblings back in the U.K. overnight that Kermode’s job would be safe. But, in the end, it went the way most expected. We spoke to one tennis insider who had been in contact with Kermode since the decision. And he was said to be “gutted”.

Djokovic wouldn’t say much. He said he didn’t want to expose himself to a potential breach of confidentiality by revealing what his personal opinion was on the subject. We do know, from a number of sources, that the Serb was one of the players who wanted a change at the top. Djokovic also wouldn’t readily accept the comments of Rafael Nadal and others, who have criticized the Player Council’s inadequate efforts at communicating with them about this and other issues in the game. In fact, he turned it around on the those players, when pressed. Djokovic essentially said that communication is a two-way street. And there was nothing stopping any player who had questions or concerns to pick up the phone.

Clearly there are Player Council members who were adamantly opposed to him staying on in the job. But as Law wrote in his Tweet, it’s been difficult to discern exactly why they wanted him out. The fallout with this is that during arguably the most crucial time in recent years, with the ITF/Davis Cup drama, the ATP Cup in process, and the decision on a possible new home for the ATP Tour Finals, there will be a lame duck CEO at the wheel. That’s far from an ideal situation – in any business.

Is that reason enough to renew Kermode in his job? Maybe not, but it definitely should be a factor.

Do they have someone lined up to replace him? Doubtful. Without a serious effort on due diligence and an executive search, a new appointee likely wouldn’t pass muster. Is there someone on the planet who could do as good a job as Kermode – a better job? Surely.

Will the ATP Tour be able to find that person? We’ll see. It feels like there’s a lot more to this whole situation that may well come out in the coming months – regardless of that confidentiality situation.

I see the sensitive nolefam is up in arms. How dare anyone be critical of the Master, it's a conspiracy, fine.

But I'm not seeing any rational defense of this action. Was Kermode bad? Why? Who would be better, Gimmelstob?

And why do you reject the concerns of people like Federer, Nadal, Hewitt, Wawrinka, even Kyrgios, who want Kermode to stay and think the ATP leadership isn't communicating properly.

I am puzzled how un-influential and un-popular Djokovic pulled this off? How it happened that players voted for him? Chris Kermode regularly set in Royal Box at W. Why would anybody want to replace such a man. I think that Kermode looks like a proper English Gentlemen. Is it possible that Djokovic, for some reasons, does not appreciate very much that particular look.

Djokovic is the president of the players council, and has been for a while. He joined together with a group of players and other board members (Isner, Gimmelstob) to oust Kermode. The players who like Kermode are not on the board. When the elections happened this wasn't really discussed.

That didn't answer my question.
The question was loaded.
You want it to be true, so you pass the gossip, then ask others to prove it's not true. What you actually need to do is to find real hard facts, other then media click-bait, then present, before tarnishing a man's name and integrity.

After some years of experience you get a feeling for certain people on certain positions. I have to say that to me CK looks more like a guy who would do more for himself and his friends than for players. Of course, I could be wrong.

Chris Kermode
United Kingdom
13 January 1965
Prize money $447
Singles Highest ranking No. 742 (10 February 1986)
Doubles Highest ranking No. 284 (4 February 1985)

Kermode is the grandson of Sir Derwent Kermode who was the British Ambassador to Indonesia (1950–1953) and the Czech Republic (1953–1955) before taking Holy Orders and becoming vicar at Cocking, West Sussex.[8]

Following his modest career as a professional player from 1985 to 1988, Kermode worked in London as a tennis coach and later served as the tournament director of the Queen's Club Championships.[4] From 2008 to 2014 he has been the managing director of the ATP World Tour's season-ending event ATP World Tour Finals. In addition Kermode has worked in the music and film business.[5]

Before being appointed by the ATP Kermode applied for the position of chief executive at the British Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) but was not selected.[6][7]

Is this biography of someone who should be the President of Association of Tennis Professionals?
