klip armour pro

wat is the difference between klip armour pro and normal coated legend in natural gut-ness? the TW summary has me a bit worried.
"Unlike any gut you've used before, Klip's Armour Pro features a special coating. The white coating on Armour Pro provides a firmer response than one would expect from natural gut. Our playtesters have likened this string to playing with a poly/gut hybrid due to its excellent control, durability and ball pocketing qualities. Thanks to the coating, Armour Pro is the easiest natural gut we've strung. Players familiar with the feel of natural gut should string this string at 2-3lbs less than regular tension to get a similar power level."
2-3 less tension? like gut/poly hybrid? it almost seems like this stuff isn't going to play like natural gut? i've never used gut, and i may come across some of this stuff cheap, i'm wondering whether i should spend my money on this (because to get it cheap i'd be buying in bulk) if i get it would a hybrid even be a good idea any more? or does it really already play enough like a gut/poly hybrid? it seems like its described as the one natural gut that doesnt play like natural gut

Son's experience

My son (#9 New Eng B16s) normally uses full poly setups in his FXP Rad Tours @ 60 lbs - ALU Power or Polystar Energy, sometimes a ALU hybrid w/ Polystar. He's tried VS and BDE hybrids too but has always gone back to polys. I bought 3 sets of Armour Pro for him to try as mains. The coating seems pretty thick - almost like a "sleeve". Out of the package, it's more wiry compared to VS or BDE and the coating is very slippery (easy to string). Bottom line is we did Armour Pro mains @ 60 and ALU Power crosses @ 60 to minimize variables. After hitting I asked him if liked it - he said it was "nice - not much difference". So for him it plays more towards the poly side of the equation - he can hit it as hard as he wants and gets great control. The tension maintenance is very good too.

I've been playing this string for a few months now and posted a few times about it if you are interested in searching
There's a huge diference between AmourPro and poly. Perhaps what TW meant by the poly hybrd reference was a poly hybrid with gut in the mains and not the poly in the mains.

how does it stack up to other gut. i always here that after using multis or polys or other synthetics, anybody is probably ognna feel a huge difference between natural and synthetic. is this still the case for the armour pro?

no bad mojo, i just went through a bunch more of your threads, and i'm still slightly at a loss as to what to think of this string. I've never used natrual gut, and i'm comin off of high end multis (nxt tour etc.). i was thinking about using for the first time natural gut mains with luxilon bb alu rough for crosses (i already have a set or 2 layin around here somewhere). my question is, should this string be hybrided with luxilon? i mean a klip legend per se and luxilon hybrid is gonna be around 20 bucks per string package right? so if this gut plays basically like gut poly hybrid, and it costs 32, wudn't i just get gut poly hybrid? what are teh pros and cons of each set up, how does gut main poly crosses compare to this string straight up, and this string with poly crosses.

Yo thats a lot of questions. ;O I love this string. But if you havent used gut before and are now using high end multis, I would first try the reg Klip Legend straight up as that will give you a traditional gut feel. String it the same tension as your multi and observe how it plays..it should give you more of everything.
I dont recommend combining poly with gut either in the crosses or the mains. The poly looses tension right away and the gut holds tension very well, so you get an expensive string job that plays great for only a couple hours..the pros dont care..they just switch to a newly strung frame every few games.
If you want to hybrid the gut to save some money, put the gut in the mains and something like og sheep or psg duraflex in the crosses and that will play well for you, but I would start out the first time with all gut so you can see the difference
As to the ArmourPro, the performence is a bit polylike in that it's very bitey and the strings locks and you can swingout and the ball seems to always come down inside the baseline. It has gut feel to it though (altho a different feel) unlike poly and holds tension great unlike poly and is very durable.....think that about covers it

How slippery is this gut compared to lux poly?

NBMJ: I like Legend and it has been great at 55+ offering the crisp response I need, however as my stringing trend has been toward decreasing tension, I find less of a crisp stringbed response when I go below say 53lbs...Will Armour Pro provide improved relative crispness that I require at tensions below 53lbs?

louis should work out fne for you..the armour pro is a bit less powerful than legend and a bit stiffer anyway. the feel is diff than reg legend..it's a great feel but a bit more like a crisp multi w.o the drawbacks
